Harnser
I have just bought a brand new l200 warrior . My last truck was a navara teckna on a 59 plate . The navara did 48,000 from new and was totally trouble free except for it needing a rear hardy spicer joint on the rear prop at a cost of £180 fitted . The navara was undoubtedly the better finished and screwed together truck . Being a top of the range it had every conceivable extra you could have on a truck including sat nav . It was very good to drive and had loads of power . The l200 is more Unitarian than the Nissan and the interior plastics look a bit cheap and the radio cd is a bit on the basic side . Blue tooth connection is an extra . But the reason I went for the l200 over a new navara was the price ,the l200 was a few thou cheaper and the main reason was the four wheel drive system . The l200 can be run on the road in four wheel drive and has diff locks and traction control . At moment the l200 is performing very Well and I am pleased with it ,although it has a couple of rattles that need attention when I have the time to take it in . Depending how much you would use it off road . If not off road to much then the Nissan would be the one to buy . Not that the Nissan is no good off road ,but the l200 should be better . I think the Nissan is a better looking truck and I think the l200 is ugly in comparison . I would like to buy two ,the navara for a daily driver and the l200 for off road . Both are very good trucks and both are very good off road . I think you would get there in a bit more style in the Nissan . I do speak from experience of owning both these trucks Harnser Edited July 15, 2015 by Harnser
Essex Keeper
My good old isuzu pulled a navara out of the mud at work I the winter! I need to change mine so will watch this thread !
bluesj
I don't think there is a lot between them some bits are better on the L200 some on the navara. I have a l200 that has now covered 170000 miles with no real problems. The supper select gear box on some of the l200s is nice but I haven't made much use of it qand i think the l200 feels lighter to drive. I know a couple of people with Navaras one loves it the other hates his, but i think most of his problens are down to how he uses it (he'd be better off with a tank). If the truck is going to be used for hard work I'd save some more money and get a toyota, if its going to be a shooting truck / car then the higher spec l200 is great. Another to think about is the newer ford ranger
Jay_Russell
Ive recently bought a newer shape animal. I had upto 8k to spend and i wanted an auto. I looked at several navaras and l200s. The navara i liked but a couple of friends have them but there both getting 25ish mpg fuel consumption and both say there not overly impressed with them off road. One of them would go back to a l200 next time round. I liked the navara because of the bhp and torque is a fair bit higher than the l200 apart from the animal spec l200 which has 168bhp and a little over 300lb of torque, and its noticable when its driven. So i went for the l200 animal. So far im getting 30mpg mainly country lanes and 4w4 low on the farm and shoot. On the duel carraige way i was in mid 30's mpg. Very impressed so far and were its gone in the mudd even on standard road tyres. After covering 700 odd miles in it now im pleased i went for the l200 over the navara. Shooterluke
I have a navara adventura really nice drive inside very nice all bells an whistles pulls like a train only downside in the rain its back end happy can step out a bit
WinchesterDave
I suppose having the ability to drive the L200 in 4wd with its central diff is a positive for on road driving in the wet weather, pulling out of junctions etc stops the back end slipping? motty
From what I read on the net, Navaras seem to have far more common faults than the L200s.

You don't need to use it in the wet but snow and ice it's handy. Put decent tyres on pickups and they stop being tail happy. Bridgestone duellers though are **** on them
BrowningDJC
L200 4wd system is far superior as said, better off road in my opinion and feel less tank like to drive. 175bhp l200 easily has as much grunt I think.
Harnser
I have noticed that the l200 low range in not much lower than the high range ,where on the navara the low range is a lot lower than the high range . The bottom end torque on the navara in low range is awesome compared to the l200 . Plus the navara has a six speed box as opposed to the l200 five speed . That's my understanding of it.
Jay_Russell
On the l200 you have 2x4 4x4 4x4 center diff lock and 4x4 low diff lock.but the diff lock only locks the centre diff you also get atsc which helps send power to a wheel that isnt spinning to compensate When ive been in low ratio for proper slippery situations i just use L or 2 on the auto box it crawls along slow enough and plenty of engine breaking When ive been in low ratio for proper slippery situations i just use L or 2 on the auto box it crawls along slow enough and plenty of engine breaking
al4x
Personally I have to say I can't remember the last time I used low range. With decent tyres there is plenty of torque available to just tick over in first and let it crawl out of most situations. Really there is little to choose between either truck unless you buy new and are looking at warranty and discounts available. I like the l200's plastic interior as it's very easy to clean after a summer driving about on stubble when dust gets everywhere, yet it's still refined enough for us to use every day. Digga_hole
Only you can decide which one to go for. I would recommend navara as I have one, feel the look better, drive better and are much nicer to be in. I wanted an L200 Animal originally but after driving both and lots of research went for the Navara. Glad I did, never let me down
