Flyed off - an opportunity passed up.

Some may consider that I have thrown away my dictionary as I have used the 'fly' part of the title neither as a noun nor an adjective. Instead I have made the word up.

However I digress. On one farm a patch of black grass was so bad that the farm manager decided to cut the barley and black grass. For all I know he may have burnt it as it couldn't be used for anything else. When I had a look from the road this morning there were lots of corvids, pigeons and geese feeding heavily on the spilt grain. I drove closer to see if there were any decent lines. When I got out of the car I was descended on by dozens of horse flies, one of which managed to get me on the hand. I could see the potential of the situation but no amount of Avon Skin So Soft would have kept those ravenous hordes away from me so I passed up the opportunity.

Oh dear .

I must chastise you JDog , not only did you potentially miss out on a good day due to some small insects you also mentioned a lady's beauty product in the same post.

You are in Lincolnshire now , a county where men are men and where those that are not are either female or have moved to Norfolk .

Brought an Aloe Vera plant back from Tenerife on our last holiday. We live adjacent to an arable farm, but for some reason are persistantly pestered by the dreaded horse-flies. One got me on the back of my hand last weekend, and Mrs Mike737 snapped a tip off one of the 'leaves', I rubbed it on the bite, and repeated several more times over the next hour or so (using the juice in the original bit). The bite never came to anything!!! Magic! The neat sap seemd to do the trick! I expect you can buy Aloe Vera plants here as well, might be worth a punt.

Mike.
