JohnDeere6630
Hi all I've just picked up my first rifle and was just wondering how much info they want when notifying them about a ammo purchase will "200 rounds of 22lr ammunition" suffice or do they want brands etc ? robbiep
You do NOT notify police of ammunition purchases. The RFD enters the purchase on your ticket, that is all.
Medic1281
You don't need to notify of ammo purchases, but the ammo does need to be written onto your certificate. The person selling you the ammo will write it on for you.
marktattoo
Most licensing offices don't want to know, as long as it is on your certificate. Yes I know it's on the certificate but when I phoned Lancs constabulary up that's what I was told and that's what I have done since then never had a problem
keg
If you home load do you have to notify? Thinking about starting it for my .308 & .222.
casts_by_fly
If you home load do you have to notify? Thinking about starting it for my .308 & .222. No. Expanding bullets will probably be written onto your FAC when you buy them, but when you load them you don't do anything. Rick
robbiep
No. Expanding bullets will probably be written onto your FAC when you buy them, but when you load them you don't do anything. Rick I homeload most of my ammunition, and a lot of my shooting is target. As such, there's always the risk of an FEO looking at my ammunition page, and not seeing anything written down, and (possibly) questioning my 'good reason'. So I keep a logbook with details of my loaded ammunition, dates, charge weight, etc.
Livefast123
I just keep a google drive spreadsheet for my homeloads with all the load info on it, more for my info and rifle shot count reasons but if i need to produce it then it's easy. Fisheruk
It was a glitch in the Home Office standard conditions, purchases are entered on your certificate, check with your FEO, you wil, probably be told not to notify when you purchase. Imperfection
Santa is getting me loading gear cos I been such a good boy , do powder and bullet heads have to go onto my ticket or just heads . Only expanding bullets get entered onto your certificate. Normal FMJ's do not and neither do you enter homeloads onto your certificate either despite what an FEO told a friend. fortune
Hi all I've just picked up my first rifle and was just wondering how much info they want when notifying them about a ammo purchase will "200 rounds of 22lr ammunition" suffice or do they want brands etc ? As previously stated, you do not have to notify about ammo obtained or made. only weapons transactions I homeload most of my ammunition, and a lot of my shooting is target. As such, there's always the risk of an FEO looking at my ammunition page, and not seeing anything written down, and (possibly) questioning my 'good reason'. So I keep a logbook with details of my loaded ammunition, dates, charge weight, etc. I was advised about this by my previous feo but I said to him that there was no point in me doing this because I could just enter any old guff. I could write up that I had made x rounds on any day of the week that I chose. He replied that he could ask to see them. I said not if I just shot them off. He hadn't thought of that one. He scratched his head a bit. Another one is > you should keep the primers so that they could see that you were reloading them. I said that I could show him a load of primers in the dustbin if he came round when I was reloading. He wouldn't know the difference between a shotgun and a cf primer if one hit him. It's all just clutching at straws. even if they asked for pictures of me with a deer it don't mean that I shot it. It might have been taken by a friend and me just posing up with it. I'm still waiting for contact regarding my co term which has been in since June so they ain't got the time to delve into this stuff.

dob
What's a bullet head ? A bullet head is what an amature who is entering into the correct terminology of reloading calls the pointy bit that stops the foxes.
