pigeon controller
It might be one or two bangs and they all clear off for another rape field ..... we will see. I found about a 1000 or more today..... car loaded and off out shooting tomorrow OK we need a full blow by blow report??
malkiserow
Yet again.......... awful shot 3 but saw very large flocks...... a frustrating day. I walked the flocks off, set up and shot a few that returned but that was then it....... I really should take up a different sport
Dr D
I don't think that is a PC tip. May be not, but that's where I read about it. Anyhow, its clearly rubbish because he only got 3. 😲 Edited January 1, 2016 by Dr D

hillside1945
Been visiting the same field for last 2 weeks. On first visit I lifted about 2/300 and after setting up and waiting for a return, nothing came back. Every 3 or 4 days I do the same thing but I still have had no luck. I think there may a lot of Rape in this area of South Beds which offer lots of feeding so I will keep trying. I would like the opportunity to maybe visit some new area in Cambridge where I hear the birds are on the brussels. Does anyone one know If there are any opportunities to buy odd days of shooting in the area. Hillside 1945

scolopax
was out watching the hunt on a very large commercial shoot and I saw the most woodpigeons i have ever seen in a flock, several thousand. I did not see exactly what they got up from but guessing due to the nature of the place I would say they were on a game cover.
anser2
I had a drive around my pigeon shooting areas in Norfolk today to see whats about. As I expected very little on the estate and a second farm, well just 2 pigeons seen in 2 hours. Headed up to a farm I can shoot after the end of the game season close to the coast and at last pigeons. Good numbers hammering the rape on one field and a lot in one of the woods. Though the other dozen rape fields on the farm were empty of birds. This is the first time I have seen more than a handful of birds on the rape for 3 years so roll on February and with luck I might get a few pigeons this winter. Just seen 40 over my house again the most wood pigeons over the house for several years. Are we getting some migrants moving in ? sako751sg
The pigeons up here the now are in incredible numbers and the most ive ever seen.Nearly every stibble park yesterday was heaving with them and the clouds when lifted were great to see. Looks like they know a cold snap is on its way.
old'un
You need some cold and snow up Scotland and the north of England then you might see some big numbers moving further south, until you do I would not bother looking for them, one bang and they are gone to the field a couple of miles away. Shotguneddy
If u don't look you don't see birds. 90per cent of my pigeon shooting is sitting watching flightlines seeing if they return, and how many do return. Sports there all year round

shootingmachine
winter rape can be hard going especially if you havnt got miles of land to pick and choose from normaly one bang and their off and dont come back, then another day could be different story i find it hard going in winter have done for years until the beans go in normaly shoot well on the beans evert year. motty
so how many do you shoot during the winter on rape? Pigeon Controller must shoot not far from you. He shoots plenty on rape every winter. I reckon I could shoot a few on rape at the moment, but I'm leaving them alone for now.

motty
so how many do you normally shoot during the winter on rape? I don't shoot that many at this time of year. I shoot more in late winter. I concentrate a bit more on wildfowl through the winter.
