bigbird
I was just thinking back over the years I've had dogs and it occurred to me that they've taught me a lot. Amongst a lot of other things they've taught me patience and the ability to look at things from others' point of view, that one size never truly fits all and that you never ever stop learning. Also never to take hubby's dog to school because he has a penchant for doing an unusually sloppy poo right outside the school gates.... islandgun
I cant believe how much pleasure one small spaniel can give a family of five, so he's taught me respect
Mentalmac
Lola has taught me to have a sense of humour even when it would normally be difficult. I've learn't that I really appreciate the feeling that a dog gives you of seeing how excited they are when I come home and I'm excited to see her too. I've learn't that my heart seems to rule my head.

JDog
My dogs over the years have taught me about will power. However groggy I feel in the morning, or tired and lazy at night that they are totally dependant on me and that I must take them out. Penelope
Patience, a sense of humour, that love can be unconditional and trust, particularly in a nose that is so much better than ours.
FatFreddysCat
Mine has taught me that On the way home from the marsh a dog crate is not acceptable and a heated seat is required. After a plucking and gutting session, dog food is only edible if there is boiled duck/pheasant/pigeon liver mixed with it. Dog beds are ok for a quick doze but for a really good nights sleep a sofa and fluffy cushions are essential. bigbird
Thinking on... Fatfreddyscat's dog taught me that a four foot high fence with electric fence on top is not sufficient to keep a determined bitch in season confined! Also that if somebody tells you 'that dog will never make a gundog, it's too timid' ignore them
cocker boy
......That a little knowledge is simply not enough. .......That inside most dog owners there is a idiot trying to get out. .......That just because a person has a website and a KC affix it does not mean they know the score. ....... That none of the top gundog trainers ever use a internet forum
fenboy
That the only thing two dog trainers will agree on is that the third is doing it wrong

bigbird
I don't think inside most dog owners is an idiot trying to get out though, that's rather unfair lol
scobydog
Patience, talking in a girlie voice no matter how daft you feel [ tks Alison] and believing he can find something where you think there's nothing, dogs are a damn site cleverer than we give them credit for. And of course you started out knowing everything without having to ask daft questions , asking about anything is how people learn , hence the saying there is no such thing as a daft question .
