Wingman
I have a last minute opportunity to go out for a few hours on the pigeons tomorrow but have run out of my usual 30g 6's. I have a slab of CompX 28 7.5's though and thought about using these. I reckon they should be OK if I keep to sensible ranges, what do you guys think? JDog
What range do you consider 'sensible?'
littlerob
All I use now for pigeons is clay cartridges I even use them on early pheasants and partridges
Wingman
What range do you consider 'sensible?' Depends where I set the hide up but 20 or 30 yards
motty
Depends where I set the hide up but 20 or 30 yards You should murder them at those ranges

Wingman
Use them and enjoy I did but despite my best efforts the bag was empty! Out again on Sunday with my newly serviced silver kestrel.
johnnytheboy
I have used 7.5 28g clay cartridges, however one thing to take into into consideration is not all clay cartridges are the same, continental shot size is 2.4mm as opposed to UK shot size in the likes of hull at 2.3mm And opting for faster cartridges such as cheddite universal trap is a good plan with extra choke. I found decoyed pigeons this was no bother at all but they ran out of puff on flighting birds or birds not committing to the pattern that needed more range! I ended up deciding that for a few extra quid for game cartridges it eliminated the dilemma that some shots would pose, in rage out of range! A few quid extra to enjoy your day
dodeer
I'd like to find a 32g 7.5 but continental size so a UK7. Problem is now are banned for clay shooting I can't find unless in France etc.
chris1961
Why don't you reload you're own I make a 32 gr no 7.5 works great
Wingman
Why don't you reload you're own I make a 32 gr no 7.5 works great Have thought about it and used to reload all of my centrefire carts (6.5x55, .223 and .45 LC) but gave up when my reloading room was requisitioned for a nursery! Now sold all of my reloading gear unfortunately so would have to start from scratch. You got me thinking though....

Scully
I have often used 28 7.5's for pigeons and corvids; through full choke they are devastating.
