To stay or go

Its not that easy, I considered going to Canada a few years back simply because the lifestyle was so much better but its incredibly hard to do, lots of hoops to jump through. The USA is basically out, they will only let you stay for six months in every twelve. Getting a permit to work is nearly impossible.

Australia is too far and again incredibly hard, New Zealand is worse.

France is a nightmare of paperwork and taxes, Germany is not much different to here. Spain is rubbish unless you just want to booze yourself to death like most of the Brits out there. So where would you actually go?

Yes that's my point,if we vote to stay in I would like to leave the uk,but due to my age I would find it hard to emigrate to most of the countries I would like to go to.so I would be stuck with a move to an eu member state,as has been mentioned above they all have there faults, but as far as I can see the only option for me at present would be france Edited by besty57

I can tell you about NZ if you're interested. No country is perfect, it just depends on what you want out of life.

The wife's family is there,we go now and then.

We've talked about emigrating more times than I can remember!

It's too far from anywhere. Unless you're loaded,it's quite isolating.

So if we vote to stay in you'd be happy to leave for a country that's also in. I don't get it you want us out but at the same time are quite happy to reap the benefits of eu membership and move to France.

May as well just stay in UK

We don't have to remain in the EU to go and live in most EU countries. People were living in France, Spain Greece etc long before we were in the EU. Its not like you can just walk in now, you still have to fill in lots of form and apply for residence etc. depending on the country.

But whats the point in going to most of the countries? Spain is a good example, most Brits last about two years before they are wanting to come back. Its a pipe dream.

My mate lives on the WW1 battlefield and works as a guide, he has a reason to be there. You have to have a reason to want to go, just fed up with here is not enough.

As I said ,I don't think I would have much of a choice, and I think unlike the uk the French tend do what suits them, regardless of the rules.maybe if our gov was more like that,

I don't see the logic. France is a great place to live despite the EU because it is different. It has a lot going for it, for instance many of my customers leave their ride-on lawnmowers outside all year round including when they are in the UK and nobody steals them. One of the local lakes has beaches and boat hire that only gets used in July and August. The other ten months the boats are laid upside down on the sand, not chained up or anything and no one touches them. Houses are cheap, people are friendly and helpful and the roads are uncrowded.

The UK can only improve itself outside the EU IMO. If it remains within the sphere of Brussels it will always have the problems of immigrants taking advantage of the welfare system. That doesn't happen in other EU countries. If immigrants arrive here and don't work, they don't receive welfare. Their health costs are payable too. No free NHS.

Got it in one, not just the immigrants either, the benefits system is the cause of so much that is wrong with Britain. Why is it that so controversial?
