Well done mate. Fingers crossed about the Fallow.

What is the deer distribution like around your ground? I presume a good few Reds and a few fallow here and there. Anything much on Roe or muntjac?

Loads of Muntjac a few Fallow the odd Roe Red around Cannock.

I only have Muntjac on mine that I can take at the moment.

Hi Farmer D,and welcome to PW.

Once you get the photo upload sorted just make sure that they of a decent quality, we don't want this sections standards dropping. There are a few on their final warning. And if you do intend on showing your mug on the picture can you please try a little smile.

And we'll done with the 222.

Hi Farmer D, well done on the fox this morning, I had the same trouble posting pictures until I downloaded picture re-sizer to my phone, no problem after that. Do you reload for your treble? sweet round, cheap to load for once your into it. It's very forgiving and hard to find one that doesn't shoot well unless it's been abused, long barrel life as well

Thanks for the welcome fellas, don't worry Dougy I do all my shooting alone so will struggle to get my ugly mug in the photos haha! How do you rate your Archer? I've not got any sort of NV,would be interested in your thoughts on it. No Tonker I don't reload at all yet and completely agree with you you on the treble, unbelievably accurate round. Do you have a treble yourself?

Yes I managed to pick up a Rem 700 Adl as new locally. I bought a short action off here and turned it into a Bdl, I've got a 6.5 photon on top and rate it.

I've had the Archer now for a few years and compared to lamping it's kind of cheating, I replaced the Firefly with a Dragonfly and it's just amazing how much further you can ID targets. (Because I lost it in nearly 2 feet of cow poo)

There's 1 for sale on SD for 1300 new it's an a grade which are normally 1750 ish

Certainly is with your shooting :whistling::lol:

I've got 1 with 5 cubs to clear up on Saturday as every field around her has lambs in.Luckily she's moved them from the wood to a sett in the open. The not-so-pleasant side of Fox control, but has to be done :/

had a dog fox tonight that has been taking lambs all week. sat there sunday wednesday and had no luck. farmer had tried calling earlier on in the week so that was out the window. next option bait station with 12 hours sat over it in three nights finally got him in the field tonight. the best bit was its a new farm and the farmer was there with me tonight so happy days. his mate was there rolling the field and he has 500 acre farm too :). grant will be busy when he gets back from fannying about in africa lol hopefully a few more nights here with nv should cure the problem. as i have had 4 phone calls this week about foxes, canada geese and rabbits that time of year again

Still doing the business babs well done. Great pic Magman.

Bumpy dont shoot them all without me

Off fannying about in Africa in the morning. Not picked up the rifle all week as dont want to spoil my shotgun shooting. Heard this week that there will be pigeons where we go so will need more shells.

Taking the HMR for a bit of down time plinking on the rock chucks.

Had a text from a farmer yesterday that he had seen a fox at 8.50pm coming into lambing fields

So get to the farm at 8.15 all set up by 8.30 and just as its getting dark at 8.50 a little vixen turns up a few squeaks but she's on a mission and dissappears behind an old building It's now 9.20 and spot the fox heading towards a dead lamb that the farmer had put out for me,Oi and good night for this barren vixen

Time for a cuppa with the farmer dont see anything then its now 1.30 and about to go home when I hear a fox barking in the woods within 10 minutes can see her cross the stream and into the field she stops for a pee and down she goes hit her high so a quick follow up shot, another Vixen and looking at her belly she might have been in cub Pic of 2nd fox

A couple of mates went out on our rough shoot about 2130 last night after seeing cub activity signs. They shot ten in less than an hour from two setts only 200 yards apart. All the cubs had been collected with the exception of one, when we did our rounds this morning to move our trail cam.

I don't find it enjoyable anymore, so leave it to those who do.

The not so pleasant side of Fox control.Lamb taken about month ago and called her out but she stayed on the edge of the wood and no shot.Farmer saw her next morning and confirmed heavy with milk.Although he's hunted Fox himself and had terriers in the past,he didn't like the thought of Cubs being orphaned same as myself (every year i give them April and May off..so long as they behave) He has been dropping all dead lambs in same place and had no more trouble.Luckily she moved them out from wood onto a hill into 6 hole sett 4 days ago. He's been watching and saw 5 cubs.Met him tonight and he told me Vixen turns up about 7 40pm to feed them.Set up on the hill opposite about 120yds away at 6 30pm.After 15mins they started to appear and sure enough i counted 5.Vixen appeared at 7 42pm.Duly despatched and then the 5 cubs too..not nice after watching them for 45mins but has to be done as every field around them is full of lambs.Low and behold after 10mins a 6th appeared. All done and dusted by 8pm.Sure i shot the Dog end of February as he never showed and farmer hasn't seen him.
Spoke to shoot Captain who said get down here as Vixen and Cubs are chasing Pheasants at the laying pens.Called 1 but wary(vixen i would presume)So guess i'll be there tonight as they seem to be after the birds before they roost.
