Wingman
Hi all A friend has a Perazzi MT6 that he wants to sell for what I think is a good price. I had a look today and it seems a nice gun in great condition but I wondered if anyone has any opinions or views on them they could share. It has 27 inch barrels with a full set of black extended chokes and seems a lovely light clay gun for the Mrs. I asked him if it was a trap gun as the rib seems quite high but he wasn't sure. Are they reliable are there any known problems I should be aware of? Would appreciate any help! Cheers WM Edited December 29, 2016 by Wingman

Scully
I looked at a MT6 prior to buying my MX4C; both have quite high ribs but both were Sporters. Nice gun.
Wingman
Thanks gents have to say it's a lovely handling gun and in superb condition. Only downsides is the original case is not present and the barrels are a slightly odd length of 27.5" although I understand this was standard back when the gun was made. I know nothing about perrazis so any advice in what to look out for would be appreciated but I am pretty sure I'll buy it.
matone
Cost £1524.60 in 1980 !
Jaymo
Teague did a 1 inch extended choke which would even up the length if your concerned about it-- but does size really matter :-) Remember when all skeet guns were 26"
Wingman
This is less than half of that now, pretty good depreciation! Teague did a 1 inch extended choke which would even up the length if your concerned about it-- but does size really matter :-) Remember when all skeet guns were 26" It has 5 chokes with it all are extended by an inch, black with knurled ends. Could be teagues?
figgy
All Perazzi are odd lengths 29&12" 30&3/4". 31" long it's almost like the fella didn't measure them when he cut them or they formed the chokes then cut back the barrel to wahat choke they want. Don't let the odd length put you off.

MT6 in my opinion worth £800-1200

He just wants shot to make way for a new gun..shame it doesn't have the original makers case. Edited December 29, 2016 by Wingman

Westward
Nice vintage Perazzi. The MT6 was produced for the Montreal Olympics of 1976 hence the MT6 designation. I think the early ones had Olympic rings on the action body but the IOC made them stop. The trap models normally don't have selective triggers, but I'd reckon that buyers could probably order selective although Perazzi gurus insist that the non selective triggers have better pulls than the selective ones. The design is pretty much the same as current coil sprung, fixed trigger Perazzis.
Paul1440
Ok. At £700 as others have said buy it. *assuming the barrels arn't pitted or it's off the face(and thats not terminal at that price) As said the MT6 was produced for the 76 olympics. Tge MT 6 had 2 action designs. Striped or regular black action. They had a non removeabl trigger group and the barrel selector was in the safety as per Browning As far as I know they didn't have Olympic rings on the action. That was the Beretta ASE90 which the IOC made Beretta remove. (The evolution of the ASE90,ASE gold sthrough to the DT10 and 11s is for another day The Chokes on all early perazzis had the extended eternal knurling on them. If one barrel was fixed choke the multichoke barrel would be the same length as the fixed choke with the choke installed. Barrel lengths.. They are measured in mm 750mm (75 cm) is more or less 29.5 inches 800mm (80cm) is 31.5. Etc Edited December 29, 2016 by Paul1440
Wingman
Thanks for the great advice. My only concern though is that it's a 40 year old gun are there issues with spares and is anything likely to be on its way out? I have read about some older perrazis having issues with the top lever? Westward
Perazzis are pretty easy to work on and spares are available. Despite the mystique they do eventually suffer from wear and tear, just like any mechanical device. The top lever bush and locking block will eventually need to be replaced but only after a very high mileage.
