Lloyd90
My sister booked a villa abroad at a cost of a few thousand for the week. Before going she very specifically told them she only wanted one with a heated pool so that their son can enjoy the swimming as otherwise it would be quite cold in Lanzarote at this time of year. They arrived yesterday and said the pool was freezing, their son exciting jumped in and they said it was so cold he was almost crying (he's 4). They have messaged the company they booked with who said they will send a pool guy out to turn the heater on and apologised. My sister had looked online and it appears it will take 4-7 days to properly warm up and they are only there for a week as coming back for my nephew to be back in school. She has messaged them stating they are not happy and if they have any other villas available, as this means the newphew won't be able to use the pool for pretty much the whole holiday. She paid for the Holiday with a HSBC credit card. Although we can not see from their website whether they are a British or Spanish company (the individuals have British names). Would you be happy with this? If not what could you do about it?
Simon1
Moan like hell. Turn on the heater myself. I'd also look at the hot water supply & any electric showers to see if I could feed as much hot water as possible into the pool with some hose pipe

Winston72
How big is this villa for a few 1000 in Lansagrotty in February?? man that sounds expensive, I cant imagine a refund coming so maybe the little fella just needs to man up (i know nothing about children and never will ) it is currently 22 degrees over there if they were at home would he not be playing in a unheated paddling pool at 22 degrees, if youve only got a short time its better off to make the best of it than ruin in entirely chasing things and moaning Edited February 17, 2017 by Winston72
blackbird
If she has payed a few thousand for a villa in February she has been robbed big time
Cranfield
Ask for a rebate and use a nearby heated public pool (assuming there is one). "My sister booked a villa abroad at a cost of a few thousand for the week", that does sound like a very expensive villa, we have rented 5star villas in the Canaries in the Winter months and they were not "a few thousand a week". We will be there for 3 weeks this coming Christmas.
Lloyd90
It's a high end place, they paid for teo weeks but are only staying a week and my parents are staying out there for the second week. It was £2700 and she researched it thoroughly for what they wanted. Obviously trough they don't feel that they got what they very specifically asked for. CharlieT
How big is this villa for a few 1000 in Lansagrotty in March?? man that sounds expensive, I cant imagine a refund coming so maybe the little fella just needs to man up (i know nothing about children and never will ) it is currently 22 degrees over there if they were at home would he not be playing in a unheated paddling pool at 22 degrees, if youve only got a short time its better off to make the best of it than ruin in entirely chasing things and moaning This. I spent last week in my villa over there and it was a minimum of 22C. My unheated pool, having been constantly been warmed by the sun, was hot. Never once heard my children and laterly my grandchildren say the pools cold. They'll be asking for a refund because the sea isn't heated next. Simon1
Get the hot water hosepipe going asap - clock's ticking. I would use up every last Amp of electricity available in the place warming it up

figgy
Fill it with as much hot water as she can get out of the house system, it will take the chill off and help the pool heater to warm the water quicker maybe in three days it will be warm enough to enjoy. She needs to find the pool controls and set the temp as high as it will go to heat up.

Lloyd90
To be a pedantic idiot... she asked for a heated pool, but did she ask for it to be turned on? Seriously I deal with some of europe's biggest idiots each year with work and this is the sort of response id get if I asked them about this she said she turned on the pool heater but it appears to be broken and just pushing out cold water. I think she's annoyed as she very specifically picked the villa for the heated pool and made that very clear when booking, so to turn up and have it very cold is quite annoying.
