Outdoorsman
Question is were sells or will make a custom/ semi custom rifle and on the back of that what is a good donor action anyone with first hand experience is welcome cheers
welshwarrior
Riflesmiths sell or make both. Actions depends what your after really. Remi Tikka Sako for stalking rifles DCR for something more Mauser or Mayfair for something pretty CZ BRNO 602 or 550 for something rugged and big Cz527 for something tiny. R1nut
Brock and Norris make some good rifles! Just had my weatherby back and they transformed it
Lloyd90
I asked a top gunsmith just out of interest, he said he often used actions such as the Seiko or the Remoington 700 action mostly because they're so well known that's it's much easier to get custom parts that are well made. I think that's one of the best things about any Remington rifle, the 10/22 or the 700, they're so well known and customisable.
saddler
I think that's one of the best things about any Remington rifle, the 10/22 or the 700... Not sure if Remington making 10/22's would be good of bad.
fortune
The word custom is very diverse in its meaning. Anything can be customised. From painting the gun Matt black and sticking stuff all over it to having the gun gold plated. It all depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. some makes may be more common but anything can be converted to be something else that you think is the dog's dangles but someone else will say "look at that hideous lump of rubbish", and they wrecked a good xyz for that!!! http://jalopnik.com/5875472/the-ten-worst-customized-celebrity-cars/ https://www.google.co.uk/search?client=tablet-android-pega&biw=960&bih=600&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=m-zEWIDKMYGagAanh6vQAw&q=hideous+boat+customization&oq=hideous+boat+customization&gs_l=mobile-gws-img.12..35i39k1.41709.46788.0.48325.12.12.0.0.0.0.159.1581.0j11.11.0....0...1c.1j4.64.mobile-gws-img..1.11.1579.bn-7GtIJ2MA#imgrc=seNgN-e6A3A0HM: https://www.google.co.uk/search?client=tablet-android-pega&biw=960&bih=600&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=m-zEWIDKMYGagAanh6vQAw&q=hideous+boat+customization&oq=hideous+boat+customization&gs_l=mobile-gws-img.12..35i39k1.41709.46788.0.48325.12.12.0.0.0.0.159.1581.0j11.11.0....0...1c.1j4.64.mobile-gws-img..1.11.1579.bn-7GtIJ2MA#imgrc=BF7kyprwp5Lc9M: Someone thought that they looked ok. Dougy
Why do you want one ? And what do you want it for ?
Outdoorsman
I fancy getting something done .222 or .243 basically one or the other .222 for rabbits out to a few hundred and foxing, .243 for deer and foxing but also long range rabbits if i fancy, I basically want the most accurate i can get not all funny colours just somthing nice to shoot that you know when you squeeze the triggers its going to hit what its pointing at thats it, ill be home loading and all that good stuff
welshwarrior
When you say you want the most accurate you can why not look at inherently accurate chamberings 222 is a good start but 243 there are better options. Or do you really mean a super accurate 243 or 222?
Outdoorsman
I wanted a .243 for deer predominately roe
Dougy
I wanted a .243 for deer predominately roe Just about any factory rifle will suffice. If you wanted anything different then go semi custom, for stalking there's no real need. As for a semi then what you look at is something that I would expect to be a bit more refined. Or even a bespoke stock, action combo.

WelshMike
Precision Rifle Services do some nice rifles.....cant afford them myself but a couple of guys I know have their rifles. 6.5 x 47, 6mm PPC, 6.5 x 284 etc. These guys shoot deer out to 350 or so metres and the rifles certainly do the job well. Way to far for me even when I get to have a go with their kit.
