rob-d
Evening everybody, i have been offered a ex demo bsa r10 i have done some research on the above and all i seem to see is positive reviews. Is there anyone who owns one or has experience of using one of these and can give me some unbiased reviews etc. Any advice will be greatly received before i go spending my hard earned on it. many thanks Rob. manthing
If it's an ex demo at least you know it doesn't leak. Know of a few in the hands of people on other forums and they seem to be well liked.
countryman
I have had an R10 in my collection right from when they first came out. The magazine was pants to start with but was changed by BSA soon afterwards and is fine. The gun has never leaked and cycles as good as the day I brought it. Un like my Daystate which leaked from day one, went back and still has a very slow leak. Sorry just needed to say that. Chris

My Huntsman MKI is now 25 years old, hasn't got a speck of rust on it, has fired thousands of pellets and is only on its second set of seals! countryman
Eh, mine cost a fortune and it's still not right.
Exudate
Eh, mine cost a fortune and it's still not right. I had it for my 15th birthday and I'm now in my 40s. Think my parents paid around £250 for it new, and I remember them having to pay an additional £15 because I wanted a .177. Bomb proof! washerboy
My only negative comment was a well known gun shop stopped selling them because of so many being faulty and returned .

oldypigeonpopper
hello, i had a R10 in 22 a MK 1, never had any problem in 2 years owned, ex demo would still retain the full warrany,
Gonk
I've got a mk2 in FAC, had it a few years from new, use it every week and never causes me any trouble. Very consistent and accurate, same results over chrono as when I bought it. I did change a seal once! Hope that helps and as has been stated you will still have warranty for piece of mind. Whitetail
I've had a mk2 r10 for maybe 2 yrs give or take, it was returned under warranty in the first week with a faulty pressure gauge returned the following week. Apart from that it's been fine . It was pellet fussy when new and only shot bisley magnums really well but now shoots several brands well. I shot 46 wood pigeons one afternoon a couple of weeks back coming into a sitty tree with it , having taken it in preference to my fac rapid if the ranges are going to be under 35/40yds I'm using it more and more. Dasher
I've owned a Mk1 from almost the day of release and never had an issue with it, in fact it still has all the original seals in apart from the magazine retaining seal but that's no surprise since I would estimate it has had over 10,000 pellets through it. The only niggle I had was the first magazine didn't cycle particularly smoothly with short stubby pellets like JSB Express/Accupels etc.

rob-d
thanks gents some very interesting points from all sides, i am in no rush to get one and my friend who offered it to me is at the game fair all weekend so i will chat to him properly when he gets back. when i asked him to keep an eye out for one he tried to get me to look at the air arms 410 which is also an excellent gun. but i liked the fact that the r10 is regulated and can do around 140 shots per fill and keeps consistency. Also the one he had was a proper lefty not the ambidextrous stock which i prefer. djgeoff what improvements did you get from that mod?? djgeoff
as you can see the mod to the barrel with the shrouded silencer,, john told me takes all the tolerances out of many moving parts than can cause issues,eg trigger, loading mechanism, changes all the seals to a better quality type, very quiet rifle now, i took out two bunnies last week one was in within 5yds of the other after first shot second did flinch and move but not bolt. i have done the same with pigeon as well sitting on same stretch of wire ok it was dark and with nite vision for the pigeon shots, was quite weird watching one pigeon look and towards the one that was no longer there. i have a shooting buddy who told me last Sunday he is selling his guns to get a good shotgun, he said he had a hw100 he has had the stock mod done to it bull pup ( hope that's correct title dont know all air rifles correct me guys) and a wolverine ( think that is daystate). any way i could pass his number on in a pm but i will have to check with him first, they might even be on guntrader by now
Ultrastu
Just a little note to the above . I hope the pigeon you shot with night vision off a wire .were feel pigeons. Thanks . thanks i know but did not deem it necessary to to go into the boring detail of type of pigeon, location etc but for your info feral pigeon top of corn dryer storage unit only accessible by ladder and no lighting pigeon sitting on electric cable to large fans, farmer fed up with them crapping all over his grain. the point i was making was that the mod made the gun very quiet better than the orignal

rob-d
thanks for that info, anyway back on track! does this model or any pcp for that matter require much servicing other than regular cleaning etc? are the seals the main thing that needs attention or is the regulator unreliable ? Also as i have not had a pcp before what are your thoughts on bottle or pump for filling?? Many thanks Rob Edited July 28, 2017 by rob-d
