aga man
Could well be fodder beet. If the farm has livestock it is likely. Definitely beet of some sort.

Benthejockey
Its sugar beet cut the middle out and itll be sweet. Fodder beet is orange never tasted it, stubble turnips are purple and stink distinctly turnipy, quite tasty and a bit spicy when theyre young but they go very woody and taste rotten when theyre bigger. Never seen mangles but I think theyre like a wider turnip but white. And there ends bens basic field root identification course 😂

Benthejockey
And not all fodder beet is orange. https://www.farmseeds.co.uk/t/categories/forage-crops/roots/fodder-beet It was only a basic guide on what you might find in a field of roots. Although I never realised they did bright purple varieties.
