well it's that time of year again, this will be the first mad friday i haven't worked in 30 years on the door called it a day in April, mite go out and see what it's like from the other side

You wont enjoy it you wont relax you will spend all night monitoring other people, and wondering why the door staff (usually the ones who only do it at Christmas and have less experience than a tampon) are not pre empting the drunk wandering round with hate in his eyes because the bird he bought a drink is now with somebody else, and now only wants trouble ir the man on a mission, don't so it!! i had 18 years experience and miss it so much lol

grab 5 people squeeze into a cupboard, have one of them stand on you, another spill something on you, one give you a dig, play some music loud enough so you can't hear each other, there saved you the hassle, if we go out mad Friday new years eve we just go early leave early and get a ruby murry on the way home, that we ordered on the way out.

That should read when we went out before we had kids ?

ill explain what itll be like .

you know those drunken eejits , that either want to kiss you or smash your face in(usually for no apparent reason) , and they all think that they could beat you in a fight(despite the fact that they can hardly stand) , and swear that they havent had a drop to drink that day( again, despite the fact that they can hardly stand) , and want to talk to you (despite the fact that they can hardly talk) .  well thatll be you lol.

edited to add .

winston is right , its hard to switch off , i havent worked a door in ages , but i still feel uncomfortable when im around drunk people , and i dont like to sit or stand with my back to a room.

I do love the drunk fighters who all seem to have one foot nailed to the floor and seem to have only one sentence of vocabulary "come on then" oh if i had a pound for everyone of those i could refurbish my house buy a new 525 and have 2 weeks hols all inclusive in tenerife  mid season, i do miss it honest!! closely followed by my all time favourite drunk who has forgotten who he is as he seems to have  to ask everbody "do you know who I am? "

Can't stand the nightlife nowadays, you where unlucky if it ended up in a punch up, even worse a kicking when you were down. Been there on both sides, 10 - 15 pints a night, having beer spilt on your best clothes (my day you used to get dressed up) far burns on your clothes too..

Now I just enjoy a quiet couple of beers in the local, avoid the drunken youngster type super man, although a few do get in my local but are quite respectful. They didn't realise that the old cogers used to get up to more than they do. LOL

ah the colliseum what a delightful haunt lol

omg no not the colliseum but 20 year at the acapulco i do believe it's the oldest nightclub in the UK with the same name opened in 1962 so 55 years now that was a great place to work wen i started but not now it's had four different owners since the family run business started the venue, it's got a bad name now for trouble

iv done mainly Halifax and Burnley run doors in todmorden worked in bradford and some private functions like you say we have seen it all and times have changed for the worse i think

I worked the doors in burnley/Preston and Manchester for 10 years.. never again. Burnley was by far the worst people trying to punch you, Manchester they would just come back with Guns and try to shoot you.. I was shot at twice in Manchester all on NYE for not letting drunks in..now I just sit on my sofa with the open fire and a few beers with the Mrs and dog...mad Friday used to be a laugh but it only took one incident to ruin the whole night..
