Another petition on the offensive weapons bill

This is just like all the other petitions that we have seen over the years. After Hungerford anyone who didn't shoot semi-auto centrefire rifles didn't see why it would affect them...........so they couldn't be bothered.

And after Dunblane anyone who didn't shoot pistols didn't see why it would affect them...........so they couldn't be bothered.

And now we have a potential ban on 50 cal rifles............and anyone who can't see why it would affect them........... can't be bothered.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

There are around 154,000 FAC's in the UK......................................

And this petition has been signed by 3.5% of those certificate holders..........................

Makes you want to weep.

🙂 That's an improvement! If I recall, following the shootings in Cumbria less than 2% could be bothered to lobby. 👍

That's a bit like saying you have no knowledge of new traffic laws because you don't go on a motoring forum. These things do get around clubs, shoots and other places on the internet.

The plain truth is, unfortunately, most shooters just don't keep their ear to the ground and when a new law comes into effect they are taken completely be surprise.

150,000 gun owners and only around 3,800 have heard about this new proposed  legislation...................... I don't believe it.

As I said in my post id only had soght of it through here, no one I shoot with had when I first mentioned it to them. One old chap I shoot with doesnt read papers or even watch the news so its all word of mouth for him. And on this it was me. Doesn't mean he will sign it though.

There was an article on the local news about some bloke who makes wood chisels for a living. This stupid law would severely curtail his mail order sales to addresses other than business. Mail order is currently his biggest outlet.

Didn't the bloke who drove into those pedestrians on Westminster Bridge buy his knives from a local store? Are we supposed to believe that this act will prevent people being stabbed? Do politicians really believe we are really that gullible?

Unfortunately people are gullible. In the late 90s most people believed that gun crime was over because labour had taken guns "Off the streets". This was perpetuated by a media with an anti gun agenda, and it was only when it became apparent that it was all lies that the media finally grasped what was actually happening with illegally imported guns. Too late for us of course!!!

And then we have the fluffy bunny brigade who believe ANYTHING they are told. A couple of years ago we had the unbelievable scenario put forward by animal rights groups to capture all the rabbits in the UK and sterilise them.................. A couple of my neighbours actually believed that this was possible. And this in turn led on to capturing all the Badgers in the country and vaccinating them against TB.

And then there was the puerile, animal rights, plan to release ALL of our farm animals into the wild where they could live in freedom..............cows, sheep, chickens etc all running free.

The stupidity of these people knows no bounds.

So obviously if you stop mail order knives you will obviously stop knife crime.
