I will be moving house soon. Staying in the same town so no  change to police force what are the rules for the installation of my Gun cabinet?

Do I inform the FEO of the new address before I move?

Is there a time limit as to when it should be installed i.e. out of the old house into the new?

thanks in advance for any help

If not possible you could ask friends to store your guns

Sec 2 shotguns on the 72 hour rule yes, Sec 1 the friend would have to have no access to the cabinet, and firearms would probably need to be informed.
You have 7 days to inform them you have changed address.
Ive moved twice in the last year, and tend to leave the cabinet till last.

I moved a week ago. Just made installing the cabinet and moving my guns a priority. Installed it straight way and then e-mailed the police firearms on the Monday after I moved on the Friday. They’ve read the e-mail but as of yet no correspondence from them.

Normal, came out to me 3 months later !
Ive heard sometimes they dont bother inspecting it at all.

I will say though, that each time theyve come out, I get like a mini interview ( could just be Notts that do this) and an inventory of guns and ammo.

3 years and nobody's come out and that's from moving from Wales to Dorset. Renewing now so we shall see if I ever meet my feo.

Anyway first thing I do is when moving is choose where I want my cabinet, a tidy spot and get it in and fixed before the sofa or bed.

Cheers all this makes the most sense. we get the keys to the new place 0n the 4th and don't need to be out of the old for about a week so this will give me time to find a site for cabinet and fix It, then inform the FEO of our move.

How did you know they have read the email?

My advice is to move the cabinet when you have made your new place 'liveable'
My rule is where my cabinet is , I sleep, then inform the FEO.
That way , your guns are most secure, and you shouldnt fall foul of any issues regarding security.

You should get an automatic receipt but can also add read/receipt to your email sending settings.

This.
Doesnt mean they have read it , but its proof you sent it, just in case you get the ' You never informed us' bit.

Thanks I will put read/receipt setting on as when I bought my last gun I never had a reply to my email it always left me wondering if they ever got it.

The F & E dept of my police area are not up to much on record keeping....when the FEO visited due to SGC renewal, he asked me where two guns were, that I no longer owned!.....luckily I had copies of the emails I had sent them informing them I had disposed of them (many months previously!)..........I got the feeling he was disappointed! 😔
