Before becoming and M.P., he was a successful corporate lawyer specialising in employment law.  I suppose you could argue that to give that up (corporate lawyers are 'very, very well' paid) to become and M.P. (by comparison just 'well' paid) showed a lack of intelligence ......

Probably, still doing a bit under cover?

Possibly, but then most people tend to listen to what people say, and take them at their word.

The first time I meet someone, I listen to what they say, and with no other information to sway me, believe them.
Im quite cynical , but even so, dont automatically think someone is lying, unless experience, or the content of the information given, appears suspect.
This is what always surprises me about politicians, and people who vote for them.
The content, and honesty of politicians spiel, has been proven time and again to be unreliable.
Yet we continue to vote for them, some of them, like Kenneth Clarke in my own Borough, have been in the job for years, despite various words and promises that never came to fruition.
Are we stupid, forgetful, do we deserve it ?
Or are our political beliefs so ingrained that an MP could be proven as an out and out charlatan and thief or liar, and still get elected ?

Perhaps not deserve, more like tolerate. Throughout British history there have been rebellions and riots often over things we might now regard as trivial. We used to have anger, people would seeth over something and with like minded folk try and do something about it. Not so much nowadays. The sheeple don't seem to rise to anger any more. As long as they get their diet of Soaps on TV, Premiership Football, the shops are stocked with food and perhaps they get their foreign holiday in the sun they are pretty content. Oh they will winge over something for a day or two until something else gets their imigination, but real fire in the belly anger no. The politicians realised this long ago and have been by and large sticking to their own agendas far divorced from the people they supposedly represent.

Well if people keep returning her as their MP, then they get what they deserve. The UK establishment got what they deserved with the referendum result because of the total disregard to the voices of those whom they either ridiculed or simply dismissed. The USA establishment got the president they deserved for more or less the same reasons.

Fingers crossed for a hard brexit, but I doubt we'll get it, the majority of our politicians are determined to undo the referendum and deliver a Brexit in name only.

Looks likely.

We can't be harsh or demanding can we? Being such fair minded, ( give it all away) cultured, (soft) polite peeps.

Words fail how democracy is derided.

May is already prepared to give even more away than her chequers deal, she's asking the EU to come back with a counter offer and she will consider making further concessions. I just don't trust her, we should have had a Brexiteer leading the negotiation from the start, she doesn't believe in brexit and her mind is obviously set that we must get a deal whatever the cost, it would appear even at the cost of delivering a brexit in name only.

Hard Brexit for me, I just hope May has the guts to do it.

It’s not up to May. Whatever is negotiated needs to be approved by Parliament. That’s the problem. Thanks to that Gina woman.
