DoolinDalton
I wonder what would happen, if, god forbid, there's a major incident in London, maybe a terrorist attack, whilst these ER fools are blocking roads, etc. Are there enough police to manage the major incident AND these idiots....or will the police just leave them to carry on disrupting people's lives? It would be the ultimate Karma if a protester was on their way to A&E for whatever reason and the ambulance was held up due to these clowns! Is it peaceful if you are block from meeting a vital appointment , hospital, doctors , legal or business ? Is it peaceful if it costs you money, because you missed a train, bus ect, and you need another ticket ? Is it peaceful if you die on the street or in an ambulance because dread man wants to dance in front of the cops ? Is it peaceful if you are intimidated on the street by some drugged up hippy who wants to berate you for killing the planet ?

oowee
And so it starts. All great protests in history start as an inconvenience and gather momentum. Have you never marched in protest? Rather be in the UK with protest on our streets than in China. It's not hard to imagine protest getting more difficult in the UK as our Government lurches to the right. Lets control them like we do the workers unions. No protest without consent.

While in London a couple of Summers ago, the Gay Pride March was taking place. It more or less brought central London to a standstill and I wondered what would happen if emergency services needed to get through. It didn’t seem to matter to some of them however, because in their jubilation they trashed a fully equipped Paramedic vehicle for some reason. Yay, way to go! 🙂

DoolinDalton
Bizarrely enough (and perfect timing!) I've just read about the IDIOT (there's no other word suitable) who climbed on top of a plane and delayed the flight. The report is in The Mail online. Is this a reasonable protest? Not in my opinion, fwiw. The pilot should have taken off with the idiot clinging on!
Retsdon
Well, inconvenient - and possibly misplaced - protest is to my mind a price worth paying to live in a decent society. Come to Saudi or Thailand and try voicing a contrary opinion to the one you're told to hold. Sure, it's a pain and an inconvenience when people march, protest, whatever. But just remember that the alternative is far, far worse.

I would be more tolerant of their protests however, if they blockaded the houses and workplace of those who actually creat policy rather than those who are simply trying to earn a living and get on with their lives. I find it ironic you cite the anti democracy protests in China, while supporting the overturning of a democratically held vote in the UK. Are you referring to the 'respect' for the King...well probably not the one at present but the previous one. Thailand is sure a hotbed of protest and division but I would assume it's far better than Saudi.

We just have to work out how. The inept handling of the process by Government (Tories) is not the fault of the people.
