harrycatcat1
I don't know if you can make it out but the leaves look very similar but one has buds on but the other has scented little "flowers" on. Both growing in my local cemetery.Β

Walker570
Laurel for sure.Β I have some very nice specimens in my wood and at the moment they are absolutely buzzing with bees and insects on those flowers. Yes the one at the front is a Rhody.

harrycatcat1
I have laurel in a hedge of mine but I have never seen flowers on it, probably because it gets trimmed and the ones in the cemetery don't π€π€π€

Walk by any overgrown garden, especially in London streets, when this plant is in flower and the most wonderful smell will emanate. Regularly pruned hedges of the stuff never get the chance to flower.

Not far from my house is a long hedge that rarelyΒ gets cut by the Council, I love that smell when it flowers full of creamy white small flowers, forΒ me it's aroma is sweet with a slight bitterness. Unfortunately for theΒ allergic rhinitis (hey fever) sufferers it can be the very Devil.Β
