Houseplant
Not as controversial as it sounds! A racing pigeon-enthusiast friend has given me half a dozen birds that were culled. They have been plucked, gutted and frozen. They were healthy, well looked after birds and fed on grain. Should I consider eating them? What should I do with them? Cheers. Houseplant
I know some one who would like them for possum or stoat traps, seems like a better plan than eating them.
steve_b_wales
I tried some many years ago, and they tasted terrible. I did think that being fed on grain etc, they would have been okay.
Houseplant
Thanks for that Steve. Decision made. They'll go to our Department of Conservation for pest trap bait.

Lampwick
I wondered what happened to old racing pigeons! It's not like you can just set them free to fly off into the blue yonder.
foxnet22
I raced pigeons and what you need to know is racing birds get injections yearly for paramoxis etc .I would say eating them is a big no .ferret or hawk food yes.
