I don't think the small print is small enough, it can still be read

version 2 has shiney-ium advantage, and new magnetizing properties, to fly flatter to the curvature of the earth..

No doubt they will get the marketing twits on it before long.

Made up names for the same soft iron as everyone else is using.

Of time for a different gun or new barrels or send it to Briley or Teague for some chokes to be fitted.

But I like it as it is

and I can use lead on clay grounds

however I may have to add to my collection a more suited gun for the future although loathe to at the moment as I’m sure there’s plenty of time and room for development of a better steel load 🙄👍

Thinking about this objectively, the likelyhood of dying of lead poisoning is practically zero or less than zero. To be frank, here are far more harmfull substances in the ingredients used in the food we buy at Tescos.

A member of my family has been shooting lead since he was 5 years old and has eaten a large proportion of all he has shot to the present day. He was a plumbing and heating engineer for 45 years and spent all of those years regularly welding lead with no respirator, extraction etc.

He is alive, healthy and 72 now.

So is a ban on lead that naturally occurs on the planet going to make a difference, well I think it is down to the individual to draw their own conclusions.

So just under 5 years until the voluntary ban, use up your existing stocks of lead load cartridges and re-loading shot, then who knows.

Unless we all use Bismuth or Tungsten if lead shot ever comes off the market, then there are going to be a lot more wounded birds, as steel will never ever be as effective as lead -period !

The lead and toxicity argument to me is moot.

Steel is plenty effective enough. How far do you want to shoot?

i`m actually happy enough with steel. for skeet its an advantage.

for game, it just means duckloads will be used, they`ve been developed enough now.

am i going to shoot steel exclusive? nope.

I think that is how most shooters should view the situation

All this talk that Steel may be ok in 12g If you do not mind the extra recoil,  however I am not so sure about the small gauges like .410 and 28ga especially if a biodegradable wad is required. Plastic waste has far more focus as an issue with the general public than lead shot. Remember if it only a voluntary ban of lead shot at this time and I will not pay silly money for a non toxic load for my 28ga or biodegradable wad load for my 12ga if it comes to that I and possible many more will just give up shooting.

edited to add if non toxic shoot becomes law then their is also the issue of clay grounds that do not allow steel shot to be used on safety grounds, that may require a significant change in attitude also.

Which is fine if you’re taking a wildfowling gun game shooting

although not so good for the lighter game guns

the technology is there, they`ll just do some steel 1400fps 7/8oz loads, which are being made by reloaders. if you really wanted to do a good un, bismuth might be the way to go. throw away your old purdey, buy a hatstand excort.

I’ve got a hatsan  escort and it’s rubbish compared to a purdey

as for the loads I’ve got a pretty efecive 27 gram load at the moment it’s just not got the energy at 40 yards (work in progress)

I’m sure there’s something in the pipeline from the manufacturer

thanks for your reply 😊👍

its best to go up 3 shotsizes. 1350 fps would still be viable. not sure about choke, not sure what the shotsize limit is to step over to HP ammo

Problem is that size 6 shot is the clay grounds maximum size along with 28 gram load

I’m aware that I would be shooting at game but the clay grounds the place to practice and see if they are effective and the limitations of the capabilities

Get out on the wood pigeons and shoot a few!
