Fredwalton
Morning all We are looking to change our dogs food as he keeps getting ear infections, and a couple of people who have had this in the past saindthey changed food and it all cleared up. He's a springador but I don't work him, but just wondered what dry food people feed their dogs?
B725
I can't see what you feed the dog will cause ear infections.

He's a springador but I don't work him, but just wondered what dry food people feed their dogs? If he has the longer and hairy ears of a spaniel then it's more likely he is getting kack stuck in there, or if he likes to swim it's maybe the water doing it? As far as food goes, I wouldn't go bounding off to switch food without getting him allergy tested first. I've been very lucky in that I switched foods to a guy local to me who started his own small dog food company and his stuff is top notch and very fairly priced. loriusgarrulus
If his ears are very fluffy it might be worth clipping them on the underside of the ears and underneath the ear on the side of the face to improve airflow. WalkedUp
Food intolerances/allergies can cause various skin and other ailments. I have always fed (well for many years) my dogs on Skinner’s Potato and Lamb.

All three of mine are on csj, always complemented on their condition and coat. Very reasonably priced too 👍🏻
cocker boy
Look for a food with a named meat as the first ingredient on the bag. The number of foods with cereal or animal derivatives as the first ingredient is incredible. Personally I would avoid this food at all costs

You put it in the dogs ears, little sprinkling now and then.
Bigbob
I used to have to clip the inner ear hair of my spaniel it let the air in and she never had much bother forget and the hair was often matted by wax etc and she was always shaking her head and the inner ear was red and inflamed

GingerCat
Clip the hair and clean the ears. Doesn't take long to do. Lots of ear cleaning stuff out there, ask your vet what they use. We did. Not really an issue now unless he doves into the stinkiest foulest smelling ditch he can find, which on occasion he does. When he forgets he gets hosepiped off that is.
