billytheghillie
On local news, a member of the Patterdale mountain rescue team slipped and fell 500 ft while out on a call. He has serious life changing injuries. Apparently 2 IDIOTS. one from Liverpool, one from Leicester broke all covid rules and went climbing in the lake district and had to call out the rescue team. They got fined £200. Makes you wonder!

chrisjpainter
Yeah I read about this. Appalling. They'd gone out camping. One experienced chest pains, so they called mountain rescue. On the way up to them the volunteer (in his 60's) fell down a steep slope and has 'life changing injuries'. They were fined £200, but rather pointedly the police added that was "only legal penalty available" in the circumstances, as if they'd liked to have done a lot more, but the law wouldn't allow them to. Mount rescue have my utmost respect. It’s for the same reason that people jump into the sea when there’s a storm, or go kayaking when a rivers in spate. I can see why they do it, as can those who sometimes have to rescue them, but they shouldn’t have done it during the lockdown. Personally, with this in mind, I’m surprised they can’t be charged with recklessly endangering life. oldypigeonpopper
Hello, this chap was a volunteer 🤔 , this is happening more and more by individuals or a few people together putting many lives at risk to be rescued, fined £200 as against a man with life changing injuries,

Benthejockey
We went for a walk yesterday at Haughmond Hill, it was baltic and trying to snow. The amount of people wandering about in thin coats, leggings and cheap Dunlop wellies was incredible. Its not remote or particularly inaccessible up there but in that weather if you'd twisted an ankle and had to wait for someone to come and pick you up youd be borderline hypothermic before too long! I was in my shooting smock and padded waterproofs with a hat, snood and fingerless gloves on. Wearing the same get up a few hours late stood out trying to get a fox to come out of the hedge on my lambing field and I was frozen after 40 mins and didn't get the fox or any lambs!!!
