Walker570 Posted November 30, 2022 Report Share Posted November 30, 2022 Always difficult to say but at a guess on an uncontrolled patch of woodland with good feeding then ten plus per acre would not be out of the question. I live in a small hamlet 140 150 folks max and to my knowledge only three are killing them, two religiously and we still keep getting interlopers and my wife sees three or four most mornings running across the road into an adjacent wood. arjimlad Posted December 4, 2022 Report Share Posted December 4, 2022 3371 Two today, one ran through the trees then disappeared... Spotted him eyeballing me out of a large hole in an oak tree. I lined up and waited until he looked out again and the thwock was very loud, amplified inside the hollow tree. Couldn't retrieve the body as he remains inside the tree, but no doubt about the satisfying kill. Second was coming in to a pheasant feeder where I happened to be waiting under the shelter. Feeder had been cleaned out last Friday as some of the peanuts were wet/mouldy so we replaced the lot.
