I can confirm they're an excellent buy, I have the same model but 30" barrels, sxe game. Terrific little gun and good fun. Ive taken loads of pigeon and squirrels with it. I use the most open chokes in both barrels 1/4 & 1/8. I was so impressed with it I went back and bought a 12 gauge as a field gun.

Not sure if the OP knows but they're also steel proofed as they carry the CIP mark.

That's an unusual example, most have stocks made up of Walnut off cuts bonded together (often poorly miss matched) but this one seems like it may have been made for a purpose, maybe a display gun?

I’ve literally never heard of that. Is that common across manufacturers?

I have no use or need for a 410, but…

Not common with other makers no, but every KOFS that I've seen has been so, saw one last year where the grain was running in different directions and it felt awful. I would suggest that anybody buying a KOFS does so after viewing the gun, there's nothing wrong with the practice as it keeps the price down and does the job (replacement Walnut stocks are £70 ish for KOFS) but if you can pick a gun with a nice stock then why not. The example for sale here has stunning wood for a gun of this price.

How strange, both mine are similar wood to the above and when I went to buy the 12gauge I was given a choice to pick from, all excellent wood. They even had a trial gun for potential purchasers that was pretty.

My 28 bore Sceptre sxe also has quite good looking wood (for £500 at least). The only complaint I have about it is that the wood somehow feels less dense than that of my 12 bore Berretta. The forend has a more tinny feel to it to that of the 12. It could be that that there is a lot more wood on the 12 with the 28 being a true to size action or the differing shape fills the hands differently.

Either way I'm more than happy with what I got for £500. If I wanted perfect wood on a sub guage gun i'd have payed 6 times the price and got a Caesar Guerini.

Maybe they have upgraded their stocks? I bought my Sceptre around 2-3 years ago in 28G and every gun that I saw at that time had the stock made of several pieces of Walnut bonded together, it's often done really well and not obvious at first glance but, if you looked closely, you can see the join lines. A local dealer had one that was terrible, you could see the join as plain as day and even feel it with your hand.
