Some carts from yesteryear

Recommended Posts

Now, don't, please think me odd...but...if only our guns could talk! Who owned them, where they were used, what they were shot at. And it's my thought that in a distant future just as we can take picture of something and then "colour match" it to a paint mix that in the far future we'll be able to take a picture of a gun stock and extract from the light it has absorbed images. I'm not odd for a two centuries ago you'd also have been thought odd. Will it ever be possible? I don't know but, yes, if only our guns could talk.

Some years ago I found quite a few "high brass" cartridges, aimed at the wildfowling market. Most were Eley Alphamax, Hymax , Maximum ,some US brand Western, Sellier Bellot and even a few where the print had worn off, but were yellow cases.

I used them through a semi auto, mostly on high crows and pigeons (not wildfowl, being lead shot).

I regret not even keeping the empty shells, just another example of being wise after the event.
