Dave at kelton
Popped into Westlands today and chatting with Eley I find they have just brought out a high performance steel load, 3” 36gm in 1or 3 and eco wad. I might be wrong but am not aware of any other manufacturer producing an eco wad shell suitable for Wildfowlers. So have a box of each which I shall try and report back in due course. They are actually aimed at the high pheasant boys! I did ask about the possibility of a 3.5” load similar to mammoth steel but that seems a long way off as it is not mainstream i also bemoaned the lack of Mammoth shells in BB to Gamebore for the second year in a row and was told nothing this year but maybe next. Can’t get BB steel shot was the answer. Given this has been my go to factory load for geese and I am down to my last ten this is a disappointment. Can get 1s but that’s not what I want so will have to make do with home loads Edited October 24, 2022 by Dave at kelton Additions
Smudger687
Gamebore have come out with a 3 inch 35gram biowad load in 1's, 2's or 3's. As you mentioned, they're catering to the driven game market, whether it would be any good on the foreshore is an afterthought. Would be nice if they released a biowad 10 gauge option, but I think hell freezing over might be more likely.
Stimo22
Been using Gamebore Silver steel for several years at inland duck. These are fibre wadded as landowner will not allow plastic wads, no problem with these cartridges. They are 3”

Ttfjlc
32g 4s are a lovely all-round load which suits a lot of situations

Scully
The Gamebore rep’ told me they are using 36grm 4’s or 5’s in steel at Warter Priory, and no one is complaining. Teague have advised nothing tighter than 1/4 choke for these. Good to go in your nitro only proofed gun, which is good news.

I am though trying Eley eco wad Grand Prix steel 30 gm no 4 in the 12 SxS this year. Last year I used the equivalent 20 gauge and it was very good; so see how it goes. I don’t feel recoil so possibly not the best person to comment, but they seemed a bit sharper than I remember standard Grand Prix to be, although I haven’t fired one for ???? years. But I have still been unable to actually buy any, after over a year on back order.

Used in an English side by side which I know has thin barrel walls. All absolutely fine. When I was in front they killed stone dead. Very slightly punchy but my gun is a light 27” side lock ejector. Was renitro proofed in the last ten years so I was perfectly happy pressures would be fine.

I was firing them through a 26 1/2 inch side lock ejector weighing only 6lb 2oz so very comparable to your experience. Mine is still on the original proof from 1930 but the pressures are still the same so I had no worries. I tried the Express offering as well. To be honest I preferred the Eley, but they were not available to buy so I bought some Express.
Sweet11-87
ive used gamebore silver steel for some time and ive got confidence in them and feel they do the job. sadly what the shooters have got left and what the retailers have got left is all that is left. gamebore discontinued them. i sent them an email a few weeks back enquiring as they were getting hard to find. heard it from the horses mouth. also the eley eco wad 3" did the rep say when they would be landing with dealers? been waiting for these for a while but cant find anything about them online. The rep said he was speaking to dealers now to let them know about availability so would be worth pushing your dealer to get an order in to Eley and see what happens.
