Andrew1874
Any reason why a Browning 425 Sporter wouldn’t be a good choice for me as a beginner, I have shot my instructors 525 on a couple of occasions while having my lessons and it fits absolutely fine. Budget won’t stretch to a 525 but the 425 looks more than adequate. Pro’s and Con’s ????
222mark
You won't go far wrong with a 325 425 or 525. All pretty much the same gun, fit wise. Bomb proof too.
Scully
All pros and no cons that I can think of.
Wylye
I wouldn't hesitate. The 425 is a perfectly good gun, tried and tested design, 100% reliable. Loads on the market so be selective and buy the best one you can find.
Westley
Also the one that 'fits' or feels most comfortable. That differs from gun to gun, even those of the same make and model. If you can, "buy where you can try" ! vmaxphil
Personally I think the 425 handles better than the 525 👍
Gordon R
Can't go wrong with the B425. Main difference was that the 325 had non-chromed barrels. Oddly enough I have owned all three models - several of each - but never got on with a 525. They seemed to have odd stock configurations. HantsRob
We are all different. I don't like browning but shoot well with beretta. I shoot very well with a 525 and like it, just prefer beretta

And no I am not swapping or trading hahaha show me the DT11 ❤️

The 525 XS Pro lasted about 3 months, I swapped it for a ProSport. 35 minutes ago, HantsRob said: We are all different. I don't like browning but shoot well with beretta. Lots of variations between makers and even models by the same make, just got to see trying them to see which feels better, and try not to get attached to one particular brand (although I am at present, I'm open to others). Interesting, prices of used guns seem to be on the decline. Speaking with gun shops they've stopped buying guns as they can't sell what they have, and even PX at times they are hesitant depending on what it is. Will be worth shopping around and see what is available, there will be some great bargains around I feel! It's definitely a buyers market. Scully
Have no idea how true it is but a mate who shoots Browning and Miroku says the XS Pro is built on the 525 action and the Pro Sport on the 725 action ( or the other way round; I can’t recall how! ) and he says they’re different. 🤷♂️

They are both competition style sporting guns but do feel completely different, different stock dimensions and use different choke styles. 525 XS Ultra is also the more expensive gun (in most retailers) despite being based on the lesser 525 action. Having tried both I do prefer the 725 prosport but the XS ultra is a very nice gun also.

The barrel length variations is expected to feel different, but the difference in 525 and 725 is significant when you swap between them almost back to back
Steven Cooke
I have a 425 and it's a great gun, they were hand finished on the assembly line, they become too expensive to manufacture, so they brought out the 525 which is not hand finished. I also have an Ultra XS which is based on the 425 action and that is a fantastic gun as well. The 525 have vented barrels where the 425 doesn't and have invector chokes instead of invector plus chokes. I have thought about getting rid of my 425 several times, but can't part with it, mine is a late 2003 model so on the cross over with the 525 model coming out. retromlc
I've never really got on with Beretta, but the Beretta I have at the moment I shoot probably better than any previous gun I've owned. A 9lb it's a bit too heavy, but it comes up perfectly every time.having a fully adjustable stock helps
