Just heard at work that there's been a scramble. Russia has been flying a couple of bombers over North Scotland

I think it's to test our response times. We would have seen them long before they arrived.

It's not as though RAF nuclear bombers didn’t routinely go on mock bombing runs over the USSR during the Cold War, until the USSR developed effective anti-aircraft missiles.

The Russian Tu-142 Bear-F and Tu-142 Bear-J maritime patrol aircraft, used for reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare, were monitored by RAF Typhoons in international airspace as they passed north of the UK.

 

As Stonepark says , its a non story, not worthy of any notice.
