PeterHenry
Sorry all - just a coming sense check if anyone would mind indulging me..... Am I right to think that a multi choke gun isn't going to be dented at the choke end of the barrel if you can screw and unscrew multichokes with no problem? JohnfromUK
Putting it the other way round, I would expect that a dent would cause at the very least an 'uneven' pressure needed to screw/unscrew the choke. The threads will only operate smoothly if the barrel and choke are perfectly circular.

Do you mean using the wrong type / spec choke?

scarecrow243
years ago a guy bought a brand new shotgun he thought it would be a good idea to put the choke in the wrong way inside out so it made the barrels longer he only got one shot off then noticed he had bulged and split the bottom barrel

Had the whole choke to grab to tighten by hand. In fact I know many people who just put them in "finger tight". Correct way round of course. Still can't believe someone actually did that though.
