can't believe no-one has asked what twist it is🙄

I think the newer CZ’s are 1:9 twist.

Although I THINK the varmint always had 1:9 or a 1:8 🤔

How old is the rifle?

My tikka is 1:8 but shoots 53gr v-max hot day super performance lovely. Haven’t bothered trying to shoot tiny groups. Nails foxes and anything else I point them at.

Cz “in the USA” sells  223 guns in 1x9 and 1x12 twist.  The 1x12 twist will stabilize 55-40 grain bullets the best.  The 1x9 will favor 55-79 grain  if it’s newer then 10 years old it’s probably a 1x9

Any idea how I find out the twist ?

Measure length of rifling and put a cleaning wire brush up  it and let it rotate freely. Number of turns or part turns divided by barrel length every 12 inches will give you an answer.

I’ve looked on the barrel and found 1x8

Then the heavy bullets will do better in your rifle.  In the AR15 world 40-55g shooters use 1x12.  The 62-77g shooters use 1x7.  That’s why so many AR15s are sold with a 1x9 barrel.  It’s a good middle of the road choice.

That’s great I have used 53g v-max at the weekend and couldn’t get a group so I will get some heavier next weekend

My Howa 1500 has a 1:9 twist and shoots my home load sierra blitzkings 55gn (vit n133 powder) very well. 1/4 MOA for 5 shot group. The Geco 53gn spire point work very well too. not had any runners using the spire point (soft points) loads. V-max are good too, just try a variety and see what works well for you.

I use Hornady superformance in my 1:8 Tikka and haven’t missed any live game I’ve used it on yet.

Not a big number but it’s good. I’m not interested in trying to shoot little groups tbh.
