Don’t laugh but we have a problem.. Pigeons are now determined to nest in the cherry tree on our patio area.

it’s sending me daft, honestly I absolutely detest them, hate them!! If they stay away from me and my property then I can just about tolerate them flying over or sometimes landing on the house roof, but not in my garden…. I usually bang on the window or run out of the house waving my arms like some kind of demented idiot 😂

The cherry tree is very close to the boundary wall  and what’s worse is there’s a covered deck area in front so I don’t even have a clear line of sight to throw something at the ******* things when they land. The branch they are determined to nest build on is directly above the patio table, hence every day I’m clearing away twigs and wot not that they are dropping onto the table.

We all know pigeons are dirty disease ridden vermin, is there something I can do to scare them off permanently, any smelling candles they hate?? 😂😂

As I mentioned it’s close to the wall and public pavement on the other side so I’m mindful of that.

I’ll add a picture to give a better idea..

just want them gone….forever!!

As can be seen by the pictures, I don’t have a clear line of sight due to the deck. Note the table directly under the tree, getting covered daily with pigeon mess and twigs, branches….they are determined I’ll give them that!! But it’s not going to happen…utterly despise them to the point if I see them in public areas I have to physically restrain myself from lashing out at them 😂 hate them with a passion I never knew I had.

Woke up this morning at 5:30, went downstairs and looked through the kitchen window…two of the blighters again at it!! Went out shoved a brush into the tree to destroy their nest building antics, did the same last night. Done this now daily for the past week!!

I’m off work for ten days, we decided to stay home this year rather then go away. Had we gone away I’m pretty certain on our return they’d have built their nest and the area would now be covered in pigeon mess.

Nope, You wouldn’t put up with rats feeding/breeding on your patio, why the exception for pigeons. They are a health risk.

They either take the hint, or end up in the bin!! I’m really not bothered which it is 😂

Feral pigeons are a risk, wood pigeons are no different than blackbirds or Robin's nesting in your tree, they just poop on the deck more

Just get yourself a couple of kiddies windmills and tie them to the branches, the movement of the windmills will deter them.

THIS  !

Not exactly woodpigeons,  but I am having to clean our back fence a couple of times a week, using a hosepipe and scrubbing brush. The reason......?  The house the other side of the garden fence have put a bird feeder almost against the fence. I have had to buy some 'bird deterring spikes'  and fit them to the fence panel tops. It seems to be working though.

We put some stubby spikes up on a swing set years ago, worked for a while, but now the pigeons use them for everything 🤣🤣

You might want to rethink your strategy ! 🤦‍♂️

Been out all day, came home and checked…nothing

Hopefully removing some of the lower leaves, leaving it more exposed has put them off 🤞

Otherwise its plan B, which is definitely bad news for the pigeon.

Nothing to rethink - it’s an outside eating area for me and my family - I’ll take whatever action is needed thank you.

I know , but it does happen if there is a flat arrangement if branches.   Branches are not their now

We have stock doves nesting in trees all over - many people also think they only nest on ledges etc

As JKD rightly pointed out, this is illegal. I couldn’t give a toss about how clinical and bird unfriendly you wish your garden to be, I sincerely hope that you get reported for breaking the law. You clearly have no appreciation or respect whatsoever at all for the beauty of Columba Palumbus or nature in general by the sound of it.

However, this does sound like a wind up and if so, you have been most successful in winding up yours truly:hmm:
