marsh man
It was only today that I realised it was The Glorious Twelfth , is this another part of our sporting tradition slowly fading into the history books ? MM
Weihrauch17
It will be when Labour ban it. Most Moors have a lack of birds and are not shooting.
TIGHTCHOKE
MM, there are not many about this year, a lot of shoots have delayed the start of the season.

I have never seen one in the wild , the only live ones I have seen were at the game fairs I used to go to , I very nearly got an invite for walked up Grouse in North Yorkshire , our boss's brother farmed a big area in North Yorkshire and when he came down for a weeks holiday he liked messing about on the lake , he wanted to do a landing stage for a speed boat they had so I took the digger to give him a hand , we got talking about shooting and I told him one of the only birds I always fancied shooting was a Grouse , he said he had some on the moors he owned and he was happy to invite me on one of his walked up days , this I was looking forward to and then disaster struck , he lost his wife to cancer I believe who was only in her 50s and then his boy got killed in a skiing accident not long after , this changed him for ever and he came down a few times during the game season and then I heard he passed away around the same time as his brother , so my one and only chance to see a Grouse let alone shoot one never came to anything . This we can all agree is justified as the price has remained fairly stagnant over the past 10 years… For those of you who haven't been offered any Grouse shooting yet, this year the cost per brace ranges from c. £222 to £256 inc VAT/brace depending on which Estates you are booked in to shoot at.1 Apr 2022

The only Grouse I am likely to see on my driveway is the liquid amber nectar , I believe years ago they tried to interduce Grouse in the Norfolk area but it never resulted in any staying here for the long term . I very much doubt you would get Pigeon shooting at £10.66p a bird , well in fact I know you won't , MM
