From someone I know who works in Westminster....the removal or "restructuring" of Private Residence Relief on principal private residences is being considered due (allegedly) to those of us in our later years have had property value gains at a level never previously experienced.

Hold on to your hats.....

So because you worked, got a mortgage and paid over say 20+ years and the value has gone up, their thinking of a new tax to hammer home owners!!

That's robbery on a whole new level if it's true!

I used to work alongside a chap who was an Independent Councillor.

He drove a car that was on Motability in his wifes name who was genuinely disabled.

He was not, but used to call out everyone that he thought was working the system.

His hypocrisy was massive.

I know a man who has at least five vehicles. He has a new Range Rover on motability?/free road tax for a Downs stepson.  Because he can.  I have never heard him calling anyone for working the system, but he himself is a multi-millionaire.

They can put 20p on a litre of fuel and it will barely be where it was. Get that vat in on private schools. Switching around vat to benefit health would be a good move but can't see that happening.

Tax those paid in dividends the same as the rest of us. Hold 40% tax allowance at current level and add a percent.

those in charge need to weed out the scroungers and look after the genuinely needy.

/\This, but Labour won't do it any more than the Tories did.  Not sure why, but basically the Civil Service system either can't or won't.  I suspect the latter as it won't be easy, but should be possible.

Good I really hope so.

Not everyone on benefits is work shy or a scrounger or an immigrant 🧐

But that’s allowed

I'm well aware of that.

I did say a regular assessment would be a start.

The blue badge has to be renewed every 3 years

Yes Shaun, I accept it is allowed, my point is that it shouldn't be and his massive hypocrisy.

But then you have disabled children whose parents use the car their children are entitled to but are too young/disabled to use themselves

Yes of course.

There is no one easy answer.

But again there are definitely those that take advantage.
