What would it take to get the government removed as "not fit for purpose?"  Has it been done in the past?

They are perfectly fit for their own purpose. They view the world through the prism of socialist delusion.

If you accept that we are short of something like 3m workers then the NI changes should drive productivity moving away from the dependency on low skilled workers.

So then what are we going to do with all the new low-skilled workers who are flooding across the Channel from France, who are allegedly needed to fill all the low skilled jobs that Brits refuse to do?

£177 more to live on than this year!

For a great many people, the increases to insurance (property and motor) and council tax, not to mention food prices will be considerably more than that.

A few years ago many of us had £400 towards our electric bills, and £150 off council tax, some had 80% furlough pay to stay at home.    Now it is payback time-with interest .Plus we are getting more and more illegal immigrants arriving here to pay for, can’t see that ever ending now!

This ^^^, people were loving getting paid for doing sweet FA.

There is no such thing as free money!

The situation we are in was caused by the Cons with full support of labour during the covid overreaction. In fact Labour wanted to go even further.

We are paying for their mistakes, and some people still have a taste for the 'free' money.....

Wonder why the chancellor didn't hit the on-line gambling companies in the budget ?
Just as an example the woman who owns BET365 got a salary of £221 million last year and has a family fortune estimated at £7.5 billion ,while her company BET365 made profits of over £3.4 billion in one year .
Now remember this is just one o the175 on-line gambling site's in the U.K.
This without calculating the cost and misery they cause to those caught up in gambling related financial and psychological problems .
Suppose it's easier to hit the pensioners fuel allowance .

Loads of easy tax?

Just the National Insurance increases mean someone on £30,000 costs the employer £866 more a year. The reduction from 13.5% down to 8% £958 less for employees,so it’s really switching on the take from employee to employer. The workers though will pay indirectly when employers won’t give such big pay rises to compensate.Or they will cut hours, raise prices of services which is inflationary. I predict higher inflation in a year from now, though government will try to lie about it,as they do now about 1.7%!

They pale into insignificance given the family members we are importing on the back of the work visa's that we are issuing to Nigeria, India and Pakistan. Unlike euro labour these people are very unlikely to go back anytime soon.

Those coming on Work Visas will have met criteria such as skill level and job offers to reach the required points for a grant of visa, so they are less likely to meet the definition of "low-skilled workers" than someone stepping off a boat.

It's reasonable to allow such workers to bring spouse and immediate dependents with them.  If some are bringing extended family over, that needs looked at.

I'd also like to see the government doing more to close the labour/skills gap with native talent rather than importing from around the world - not holding my breath on that one though.

🤣 Of course the worker will but their large family won't. Dependent parents, family they care for, how many children 🤣 We knew exactly what we were voting for 🤣.

With you on the training. I cannot understand why we are not offering free uni education for stuff related to AI.

Its a good job all those EU 'workers' (who didnt need visas) didnt bring their dependents over isnt it ?

As far as 'skilled' workers go, most of these Nigerians seem to be working as security guards (and bad ones at that) how is that a skilled job, bullying people as supermarkets ?

A large quantity of non EU visas issued are for further education, most will never leave.
Just greedy unis making sure their income is increased by allowing any and all in, they dont give a jot about future housing, benefits and services as long as they get that £10k a year tuition money.

Training should be made mandatory for the 1.5 million British unemployed who could easily do the unskilled work, yet the 'system' that labour holds dear, wont allow it.
They might not vote labour next time.

Can you get a work visa for a security guard role? I would be surprised but who knows.

Yes, I have a Nigerian guard on my team that had a work visa prior to getting his British citizenship.

Hmm, what return on investment do you anticipate from offering free education on AI? 🤔

4th industrial revolution.  UK wants to be at the forefront of this tech. Good way to start is with the skill sets. Link it with investment packages for business R&D support program for universities and you have the start of an industrial strategy.

What do you see as the benefits of the 4th industrial revolution to the man in the street, average intelligence, semi-skilled or unskilled worker?

As a nation we need all sorts to make a country. That said we rely on high earners in a relatively small group to pay for the lifestyle the majority enjoy.
