DUNKS
Drove into town a few days ago and noticed local triumph dealership was deserted .Usually at least a dozen bikes outside, now place deserted not even a table or chair left in the spacious offices and showroom. Appears the whole group, A triumph dealers a Honda one and a Ducati one all within a few miles of each other and run by the same family have gone under overnight. Been there for years. Must be a major downturn in sales! Shame.
TOPGUN749
Everything is against bike sales these days, cost of living, inflation, the expensive and complicated licensing system, the rip off road tax on anything above 125cc,my old Honda 500 costs £84 a year! insurance for new riders, glad I took my simple test in 1976. amateur
Thank heavens for my classic Rickman. Zero tax and very reasonable insurance.

If you wanted in invent a machine to get people killed it'd be a motorcycle. It's not YOU that gets yourself killed it's the other idiots on the road that do it for you. In the 1980s it used, anecdotally, to be be Volvo drivers! I have had a full fat motorcycle licence for thirty five years now and my last 'bike was a Kawasaki GPx GPz 750 Turbo. I wouldn't now even consider anything other than a simple moped safe for myself. There's just too many other road users who aren't "bike aware". Not nearly as bad perhaps as it was but still bad enough. Edited November 9 by enfieldspares

The last one had a car hit him and they were talking about insurance etc and a truck hit him standing there . my friend was pulling out a junction on green light in a car , a bike jumped to sets of red and hit him . Biker was killed instantly. my other friends wife was driving and a bike went the wrong side of the central reservation. Hit her ( dead ) I do love my bikes 😁. Currently got a tenere
Nublue 22
I personally think it's the end for motorcycles, I had 13, 18months ago and am down to 4, the last 3 up for sale had very little Intrest so of to auction they went, bike 1 gsxr slabside sold £2800 bike two, gsxr slingshot sold £1800 bike 3, kawasaki w650, no bids, all very nice, had mots and ran lovely, it's very nearly the end me thinks. PS I thought they were worth a little more 🙁 Edited November 18 by Nublue
BobbyH
Motorcycle will never end I dont think. I would suspect alot more people are becoming bikers than you think. I know the days of lads wanting to become ‘Bad Boys’ are probably gone, but I don’t think it’s dying. I do think that all bikers still have that cliche feeling of putting on the helmet, every worry disappears. It still does for me after 10 years. rellum
I’ve been riding bikes since I was 12 my Dad ran the family business selling motorbikes It is a cut-throat business the profit margins are very slim on new bike sales. Bike dealers are dropping like flies at the moment sales are slow and overheads are high staff need to be paid and so do business rates and electric & heating bills 👎👎
matone
Bikes have largely become a very expensive, luxury item ,and like all of those, many people are reducing spending on such things given the economic situation. Two Tier and Co have rocked the confidence of the nation with there barrage of negativity in the media .Worried ,intelligent ,people aint spending as much. Nublue 22
Suzuki UK did a 750 slabside a few years ago and it was on there stand at the classic bike show, now as nice as it looked there was just so thing about it that didn't look or feel right to me, my thoughts are they will never go up in value much higher then today's prices. Intrestinly the Bonhams auction in Dortmond prices seemed strong,.

Likewise, not had a bike since the early 70’s. May be my sense of humour, but I couldn’t resist buying this last year.
