TIGHTCHOKE Posted Monday at 18:27 Report Share Posted Monday at 18:27 After quite a busy day I decided I just fancied prawns, marie rose sauce, salad and some nice crusty bread.
bruno22rf Posted Monday at 18:45 Report Share Posted Monday at 18:45 Dish of the year so far for me, did you make the bread? (could win a Gold Star if you did)
TIGHTCHOKE Posted Monday at 18:50 Author Report Share Posted Monday at 18:50 (edited) No, it is very reasonable in Morrisons, £1:20 for a good large loaf. I didn't catch the prawns or grow the salad either I'm afraid No gold stars, but a very satisfied TC. Wow a gold star contender , you always said the simple way is the best to go , I do agree with that , the only thing I am not keen on is Morrisons bread , I buy there packet of cheese rolls and they go hard within a day and mouldy after two or three days , same with there bread , alright on the day you buy it but the following day it go as hard as a rock , come to that most of the supermarkets bread is the same , even M + S and Waitrose , although Waitrose keep longer than most of the others. JKD Posted Monday at 19:33 Report Share Posted Monday at 19:33 That looks extremely tasty, despite the copious amount of black pepper Hope you didn't spill anything onto the keyboard 🫣

MM NEVER had a problem, keeps for quite a while, but is usually eaten before it gets to that stage. Do you keep your bread in the fridge? I do and very cold, NEVER get mouldy bread. No , I have never kept my bread in the fridge , I have got a plastic bread container that is supposed to keep the bread fresh , I very rarely buy reduced bread , although having said that I did buy a round cheese and onion tear and share loaf from Waitrose yesterday afternoon that had just been reduced from £3 something to half price , this is lovely and have nearly all gone so it wouldn't get the chance to go hard as it will be gone by mid morning tomorrow . JohnfromUK Posted Monday at 21:20 Report Share Posted Monday at 21:20 Looks lovely. I love prawns but can't eat them without risking painful gout at present, but currently working on getting medication dose adjusted to allow things like occasional shellfish. JohnfromUK Posted Monday at 22:10 Report Share Posted Monday at 22:10 Just now, ditchman said: what on earth is in shellfish thatcan give people gout ?........heard this so often In a word "Purines". https://www.arthritis.org/health-wellness/healthy-living/nutrition/healthy-eating/which-foods-are-safe-for-gout But different things 'trigger' a gout attack in different people. For me, red flags go to liver, shellfish, game meat, beer (inc non alcoholic), sweet fizzy drinks, anything sweetened with fructose or HFCS. I'm OK with a little of any of the above, but too much over a week or so and it's bad (and very painful) news.
gmm243 Posted Monday at 22:20 Report Share Posted Monday at 22:20 We had the same last night but mixed with a bit of pasta through the marie rose. Followed by pollock fillets done in the air fryer and roasties. I had some peppers and onions on the fridge so fried them off too. Was a fantastic dinner. Did think to take a photo but got carried away eating and forgot all about it.
