Assuming you put the shot in the correct place, within acceptable ranges and with accuracy then yes a sub12 air rifle will humanely kill all of the quarry mentioned.

The only thing that I would say is make sure you are keeping to the rules of the general licence where the crows are concerned

Hi all,

Got a tx200hc recently. Would like to know if it would humanely kill rabbits rats, crows? Would like some input before I go in the field

The Air Arms TX200 Hunter carbine is perfectly capable of killing all the above with the correct pellet placement, very little recoil, if that's correct word and super accurate, its a springer that's pretty close to a PCP, look at a few videos to see how good they are.

Scopes are personal choice really, what suits me might not suit you, best bet is to see what's available second hand, don't go silly on the mag, 3-12x 40, 4-16x44 then have a look through and see what you like.

But you'll need good mounts on a TX, probably a one piece,  sorry but it all adds up.

When I comes to practice for hunting  .shooting targets from a bench at known ranges is totally different from hunting in the field .so first set your gun up at the range get scope zeroed .then work out all your aim points on the ret .for different ranges .then when your happy you know them from 10 - 45 yds

Go out on your permission with a bag of small crab apples or bottles tops or something else that's easy to see and cheap . Randomly place them on fence posts and in trees etc .without knowing the range .

Then walk about picking them off estimating the range and using your ret aim points holding for wind .this is much harder than shooting on a range but 100x  more realistic to hunting .

It's also  more fun . Get happy doing this with a decent hit success  rate and then go hunting .you will still find you miss and you will find you also hit and watch the bird /rabbit run off  this is where shot placement comes into play hitting just the vital spot depending  on how the animal presents .

A .177 round head pellet will kill rabbits out to 45 yds with perfect head shot .and birds also .

Body shots (h/l )  on birds  should be restricted  to 25 yds   .don't body shoot a rabbit .

If using a flat head or hollow point take 10 yds off these numbers  .

As for scopes  I like a 4- 12 x44 or 50  for .177 and a 3- 9 x 40 for a. 22

The hawke compacts have excellent quality  glass I really rate them .amx reticle is nice .so a 3 - 12 x 44  compact would be about perfect .

The 12 x amx reticle will also work out perfect for a .177 jsb 8.4 grn pellets trajectory  on 12 times mag .

I cannot help but wonder why ask this question in the first place? 30 seconds on the interweb or youtube would have answered every question you might have - TX200HC.....HUNTER CARBINE or am I missing something here?

What's the point in having a forum if you can't ask questions? Thanks got your input though

Ignore him bruno always gets grumpy this side of Christmas.

Ask away . Myself and others are always willing to help in any way we can .also a specific question can get a targeted response without all the trawling the Internet just to find totally conflicting  information.

I had a tx200 hc in .177 .I bought it because  I wanted pcp accuracy  in a self contained  springer .which it did .

Mine liked the .177 falcon accuracy plus  pellets at 7.3 grns . Which gave around 11.6 fpe . At 820 fps they are a killer of a pellet on rabbits and pigeons .

The only reason I sold mine was the weight .and I'm not a little lad but a 3 hour mooch about the woods and you felt it .

But for sitting over a rabbit Warren 35 yds out it was brilliant .

The barrel on a tx 200 has is relatively short  so the best energy will most likely come from a lighter pellet made from soft lead .I'd look to the jsb made

7.3 grn   7.9 grn and 8.4 grn ones .

That's falcons /jsb rs 7.3

Webley mosquito  /jsb express 7.9

And air arms /wheirauch,  jsb exact 8.44

For the rats at closer range look at a flat head jsb (air arms match or the h+n econ that are really cheap but really accurate  )
