pin
Get her to do pass plus, some give a good discount for it. You could also volunteer a larger excess, that normally brings it down a bit!

ph5172
Try direct line i was insured with them in my younger years. and if she lives away in halls try having the policy at your home address it is usually cheaper. But i have noticed even with nother years no claims my renewal will be more than i paid last year.... because of the floods... if you can work that out. You could also try a broker.. Chris Knott usually does me ok
Mungler
Do what everyone else does inside the M25 - don't register the car and if she gets stopped by the police she can give a cock and bull story about how she just bought the car 5 minutes before and that well it's not really her car because it belongs to her cousing Mohammed but she can't remember his last name and she's just looking after it for him. Obviously don't bother taxing it or getting an MOT (that's very yesterday). Oh, and make sure the tyres are nice and smooth.

dunganick
you will struggle to get below £1k, mine is over 1K and ive been driving 1 year. Your time is best spent trying to get 1 year driving under her belt, it will make a much bigger difference.

AdamC
Mikky, "you are entering a world of pain" - sorry, just clocked you avatar! I think confused.com is pretty good for finding the cheapest quote. I would expect to pay around £1000 for a new driver, but try a few things to get it down: - Work out how many miles she will be doing. I only use to do about 4000 and that use to reduce the cost a fair bit. - Try putting yourself or another member of the household with a good insurance history on the policy. I use to put my dad on mine and it would bring it down a few £'s - As mentioned increase the voluntary excess. codling99
deffinatley, millions do it,i never knew it was illegal till now,and i bet most dont, just a loop hole they found thats cheaper, and as for my mate, the car is registered to his father to so he is within the law,cos he his a named driver ,and his father does drive it occasionally ,but not exactlly regulary ,its just a big loop hole that eventually they will sew up
