Ferretboy111
After not having much time on my hands to shoot pigeons i allowed a few people shoot them, and roost shoot in my woods which i dont mind. But what has got my goat is that they have left piles of their empty cartridges everywhere! Now i admit that i have left some cartridges about before after shooting them, but it really annoys me when i see them now so i have to pick them up. How many of you actually take your empty's home whilst shooting?? The main time we dont pick them up is whilst lamping bunnies with the shotties, and any cartridges that fall from the back stay there. Anyway, just saying that we should all take our cartridges home with us, as its a form of littering. Alex
MC
I do, Normally I don't even eject them, I just remove them and stick them in my pocket or game bag. If I use a semi auto I will always go and look for the cases afterwards.
Ferret Master
Always pick them up. It's not exactly hard is it? Alex, if they are flying out the back of the lamping vehicle eject them into your hand and drop them into the vehicle. It's almost as quick but you won't leave any lying around. Suffolk shooter
Picked all bar one yesterday when it went into a flooded ditch and sped off downstream, trouble with using a semi that chucks them miles upon cycling. No excuses not to pick the empties up though, why litter the place. Saw plenty left by the previous gun who had permission, one reason why he lost it. pin
Permission myself, SS and garyb all shoot on has a bunch of other shooters on there too - we are forever picking up their shells. Odd ones here and there as they shoot, or if you see where they've been decoying for a day you might find a few hundred just dumped in the hedge Farmer doesn't seem to care
Edward
I always take them home and if I see one I missed I pick it up. The other guy who shoots on my ground is really annoying, he leaves .222 cases every where, and when I go to my bale hide to find Im knee deep in carts. and there always in the hegde and I get accused of leaving them there. the hitman
I always carry a plastic bag to put all my rubbish inc shell cases in. I once came across a load of empties on one of my permissions ,and reported it to the farmer , in case he thought they were mine. It turned out that a pigeon guide had been allowed on for the first time with paying guests, and it was also his last time.
Bagsy
Evil Elvis has a simple solution - he uses Mungler's head to collect them, no matter where Mung stands he seems to find him
anser2
I pick up 99% of mine , though there is sometimes the odd one that is missed if I use the semi auto. Apart from the litter angle finding shell cases about warns you that there is someone else about. They may be poachers or If you share your shooting you usualy have a good idea of the shells they use and the presence of cases warns you if someone else shot from that spot recently and it may be a good idea to move on somewhere else.
