Mungler
It makes you wonder when the BASC executive ever get the time to do some positive work like getting positive publicity and with a Royal. They must have squeezed that in in 5 minutes between lording it up on our subs and drinking Pimms. Much better going with an alternative shooting organisation that does nothing, gets no publicity but the subs are cheaper to the tune of 20 Bensons. Mungler
Prey tell, what did the alternative shooting organisations do? What should they have done to Barnados the charity for orphaned children?

Mungler you poor disillusioned soul, why would anyone want to join the BASC when the insurance is cheaper elsewhere, never mind I forgive you You must have a chip on your shoulder as big as all the other BASC knockers :yp: LB

David BASC
The London gig was sponsored by Coutts and NOT by BASC member subs. This was the final 'bash' of our Centenary and as you know the Prince is our Patron, so it was only logical to have a small party with him giving a speech to celebrate out 100th. :yp: Yes a few of our senior staff were there- what would you expect for such an occasion? But of course it also gives you BASC knockers something else to moan about – so everyone is happy! I will not embarrass them or you by listing the head men and women of the other orgs that were there of course, or indeed those that we invited but could not come as there were off to another party , ahem - meeting! David David, If course you are correct in what you say (and in the additional explanation you add). But why the fek did we have to issue a press release about it when anyone with an ounce of savvy knows that the vast majority of our members will be disgusted at the idea of BASC sucking up to the idle rich (and potential members certainly put off). Stanley Duncan must be turning in his grave. At present we seem to be staggering from one PR disaster to another. Hopefully the new Communications Centre will have a "stupidity filter"! As you will see, at the top of this thread, I posted immediately after Webber started the discussion. After a moment or two I thought it better to remove the post as this is probably not the best place to vent my spleen about it. garyb
Well done to everyone at the BASC, here's to another 100 years, when the likes of the Scottish association of barn dancing have long since disappeared into the history books. :yp:

David BASC
As I say this is a once in a 100 year event! To use your terminology what the fek are you so wound up about! I could go on of course but I do not enjoy the same freedoms as other on this forum for obvious reasons. A PR disaster – are you sure – bold words with nothing to back them up I am afraid. But of course you are entitled to your opinion and fully entitled to post it. SD spinning in his grave is he- why exactly? Was he too not aware that shooting needs and benefits from the support of all, and would he have turned down the free opportunity to network with some very wealthy shooters with a view to them helping to support BASC further? A chance to network with some potential high roller donors and supporters of BASC..did you miss that? Oh well never mind- I guess I am not too surprised! We will carry on running the largest and oldest shooting organisation in the UK, for the next 100 years plus. David
pavman
trying to show that basc is better then the rest again?:yp:? webber
"and at no stage that BASC are better than anyone else" I guess that Prince Philip and the vast majority of people present didn't need reminding that BASC were the best, as they all ready knew that! webber

Eric I know Mungler was writing tongue in cheek in his post but I'm having a hard time deciding whether you're doing the same. If not... How is asking your Patron to say a few words on a 100th celebration bash... sucking up to the idle rich ? But why the fek did we have to issue a press release about it Because it's good publicity for the shooting cause. Phil the Greek's seen as a bit of a maverick but he's generally well respected. when anyone with an ounce of savvy knows that the vast majority of our members will be disgusted at the idea of BASC sucking up to the idle rich (and potential members certainly put off) You're bonkers.
