How did we get on today? 2009 edition.

Recommended Posts

Well, I need to take a step back and review what I've changed that's messing me up.

Shoot poorly again today. 65/84 at JJ's. Normally I shoot the same as by partner, or there's 1 or 2 clays between us for the last 6 months, and he got 79/84.

Didn't help that I'd noticed that the stock on my new Guerini Maxum has split in exactly the same way as the Summit I had. I'm absolutely gutted by this. I've just had a huge run of bad luck recently, I'm hoping I'm just paying the price for a recent piece of good luck that I've had and that it'll all pass over soon.

I have returned to the gym and working out, I wonder if that's changed something? :hmm:

Did the White Bear with the Essex gang today; won't be going back again :hmm: It took forever to get round 5 stands of 10 birds and it wasn't exactly fulfilling.

We then did a mad rush down to Copfurn and before running out of time we shot 8 out of the 10 stands all as simmo pairs - was a good laugh, sped things along and was quite testing.

Well I am well and truly in the doldrums at the moment. Just cannot seem to shake it off.

I shot a 37/50 this morning at my local. Should have easily been a 45. Nothing hard at all. Just on tricky stand. Still had a result and bought a nice pair of Oakleys with 3 lenses for £70.

I shot the Essex County FITASC champs at Hepworth Hall today, the lovely weather was a real bonus, but, as ever at this ground, you had to work for every bird.

I started with a 20, then a dreadful 17 :hmm: , then 2 more 20's to finish on a 77.

Cheryl Hall was on our squad, my goodness, can she shoot, she was a tad unlucky with a couple of rabbits that bounced just as she pulled the trigger, but still put in a very creditable 86.

Dave Izzard looked like winning it with a stunning 90, excellent shooting. :good:

Now, in terms of the "MC style" excuses, I'll quote from page 1 of his book:

1. I don't shoot much FITASC, (it's all gun down, and even though you do get 2 shots at the singles, it's still harder than English Sporting).

2. I was wearing a brand new skeet vest from my kind sponsor.

3. I've switched ammo to Hull Sovereigns and they take a bit of getting used to..!!

I shot a 32 :hmm::good: at weston wood today not the easiest track but did shoot a bit like a w*nker.

To carry on with Cats excuses, I was shooting my new gun and takes a lot of getting used to, had the comb set too high and was shooting like a trap gun. Missing most stuff over the top.

Nice place tho

Everybody say Arrhh

Poor old cat has shot his lot and could only manage a 77.

As you well know I am not into excuses, I am just not shooting very well at the moment.

Last week I thought it was the steel cartridges but this week no excuses just a poor performance.

What do you mean it is all gun down? You brag about massive bags at pigeons, do you sit in a hide with a gun in your shoulder? Shooting gun up is for GAYLORDS.

I didn't know that Marmite made skeet vests? If you are going to buy a new one why didn't you get one which fitted?

I switched ammo? Bender, you are the one who is always harping on about there is no difference between cartridges and all modern ammo is good.

Hey Cat,

Yeah thats what she said afterwards said if i shot how she knows I can that should have been worth 60 odd. just wasnt at the races for the first 6 stands, blanked 3 of them think I was more worried about wether the new gun was gonna whack me in the face than concentrating on the bird. Also gone to 32" tubes and dont seem to need as big a lead picture with them. I think I was high and over leading everything to start off. never mind off down to the shooting club tomorrow to get some shells through it and find out whats what.

Michelle didnt shoot today as she is saving her pennies for tomorrow but would have probably made a right plum out of me

I know so many people who are not shooting at their best at the moment :good:

I don't understand it, perhaps it's the time of year

Apart from me, a lot of the locals at Worsley are off form. There are a few blokes who I would expect to be in the 90's on an average round (no mean feat at Worsley) and they're barely managing 80 at the moment, in fact they're often down in the 70's :hmm: .
