Just seen on the news that gurkha soldiers can stay here and live in the uk if they have served 20 years . How ever as they can only sign on for a maximum of 15 years it will be difficult for them . The only gurkha's who can serve for 20 years are the commissioned officers .

What a load of old horlicks . About time this shambles of a government is overturned .

Most definately yes, i can not understand why they can't, whats the governments objection?, i have met a few of these guys and they are absolutely brilliant, polite , courteous, until they recieve the order to fight for queen and country.

I believe ( someone may put me right on this) that the Nepalese men consider it is an honour to fight in the Gurkha regiments and then we treat them like this.

This Government ( and all the previous ones ) should be ashamed, how many of these brave guys have selfishly given their lives for this country.

politicians make me want to throw up, let the public vote on this and see what the out come is, i can guarantee you that they will be welcomed a damn site more openly than all these other free loading individuals.

sorry guys rant over. :good::good::good:

They have been given the freedom of the town here in Brecon where a lot of them are based, not sure what that means they can probably herd their lamas down the high street?? I turn out every year when they do their march through the town. very impressive, there's a few of the kids in the local schools. And yes of course they should be able to stay here when they've "served their time" which I believe is 15 years.

You want to see how much they are payed in relation to our boys its pea nuts,

But its a high honur for them to serve and there selection is the same as our RMC UNITS

It needs to be put to a public vote. They want to ask themselves, how many have fought and died, and won victoria crosses, serving this country.

I stand to be corrected here but i dont think they have ever won one. but still there rep forced the Argies to scarper off tumbledown when the heard they were comeing to get them

Just done a big cable job on Catterick Army Barracks, and out of all the regiments based there, they are the most polite, and helpfull soldiers on the camp.

We used to watch them training, they put 100 percent in to it, boy are they AWESOME, I wouldnt like to face them in combat.

what has amazed me about this post is no body yet has said that they shouldnt be allowed to stay . I have allways thought that this forum is made up of a good cross section of the great British public and members are not afraid to speak their minds on any issue that is posted . I think that the majority of the people in this country would have the same view on this matter as P.W. members . I think that this simple post just proves how much this government is out of touch with the general electorate of this country . So lets give it to them next year in the ballot box ,yeh right up the ballot box .
