al4x
that doesn't sound like a puma more like a lion, if they started reports of lions on the loose then that ought to whip up a bit of newspaper frenzy Personally I'd shoot one first and worry later about ticket conditions later. after all slot it with a centrefire nip home and get your shotgun and give it a couple of close ups with SSG's and no one would be the wiser and no conditions attached
MC
What conditions? My firearms certificate has a bit about shooting wildlife in connection with estate management, I can't remember the exact words but if it was me or a big cat then the big cat gets it no question about that. bruxie hill
big cats are out there after the dangerous animal act back in the early 70s 1 think a lot where released in to the wild where they have survived and bred as they have a large hunting area they can have a teritorry up to 50 miles radius here in the n/e of scotland there has been many sightings many reported to the press and the scottish big cat web i know of 8 or 10 local people who have seen them 1 f/c stalker and local stalker watched 1 for about 30 mins about 900 yards away 3 local farmers seen them 1 crossed the road in front of a friend 1 local woman heard what can only be described as a baby sreaming late at night she later found out it was a puma shouting for a mate many sightings in the stonehaven area (south of aberdeen) but my fav has to be 1 of my old friends went out with a friend and the battery lamp walked about a mile onto the hill as his mate wanted to shoot a fox they got cumfy on a hill top and started to squeck soon a set of eyes apeared on the next hill top green eyes it moved across the hill then down to them it stopped about 40 yards away the animal had huge eyes really wide apart his friend could not see it in the scope so did not get a shot of then it turned and ran back to where it came crossing 3 or 4 stock fences on the way they said they have never been so scared in all there lives they then packed up and ran for the landy so are they out tere yip with out a doubt all the best bruxie

Blunderbuss
Large black cats have been reported all over the country for years. Why has no one shot or caught one? Or taken a photo which isn't clearly a blurry image of an overfed moggie or out of focus black lab, Or filmed CONVINCING video footage? Or seen one killed in an RTA? Or found one which has died of natural causes? Or found scat which has been DNA analysed as big cat? etc etc Because they are not there, thats why! in my (not so) humble opinion  I actually like the idea of big cats living wild in the UK, but that doesn't make it so I stand to be corrected and eat humble pie when I see proper proof. Until then, they are filed under the same heading as alien abductions, ghosts, bizarre conspiracy theories about 9/11, the moon landings and Princess Di's death. The sceptical Blunderbuss! teal27
It attacked a horse but they are saying it wont go for a human!! dont sound quite right to me! A fox will take a rabbit but wont take a mouse, roughly what they are saying yes? A pumas a mountain lion and in north america have attacked people who come across them on walks. there was a program on them and it took a girl of 14years old, dragged her by her head 100 yards before her mum and dad started hitting it with lumps of wood until it released her! the girl survived but it destroyed her face and head, The poor girl has to grow up now with a deformed face! If i knew one was in my area my kids wouldnt be playing outside without me constantly watching them!! and if i did see it while my kids were outside i would shoot it without a doubt! Highlander
Large black cats have been reported all over the country for years. Why has no one shot or caught one? This has been done to (dare I say it) DEATH. The reason no one has shot one is because there are none! END OF.

al4x
looks like a black polar bear to me from that photo, tail looks bushy coat looks long not exactly cat like but just possibly black fox like. We've been down this route before google black puma and see how widespread round the globe they are yet all big cats in the UK seem to be black. Ozzy Fudd
if he took a video of the cat, where is it? should be easy to work out the size - how far are rails normally apart, 4ft or so?
al4x
4ft 8.5 inches and to me that is probably 2.5ft long in the body so probably fox size, the big cat nutter posted at the bottom is even suggesting it may be a new species, so not only have we got big cats but also an unknown species of them, please lets just go back to sightings of the loch ness monster its more likely Edited July 28, 2009 by al4x

al4x
you should be fine with buckshot of course if the first shot doesn't penetrate give it a couple more and its bound to work. personally i'm also after that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow
