Funny you should mention that Old farrier - our club has a regular visitor who is banned from holding a cert after being caught a number of years back with several handguns - I was not happy about the situation (the guy's a real pain) and raised the issue with the owner who assured me that he is allowed to shoot?

Most clay grounds have a section 11 exemption licence that allows non cert holders to shoot (normally accompanied by a cert holder) so you should be absolutely fine sharing a gun.
-
Before the cartridges are kicked out, the ejectors should lift the cartridge part way from the breach - sounds like the fault lies with this operation.

Jesus !! Do I ever want to have your babies you stud muffin.....

Someone in the Government with balls eh?

The Grant and the Ford may well be 2 1/2" chambers (65mm) so be careful with what you buy.

But it says "inanimate"??
-
So the last pic is actual clay shooting as we know it today...1893 and "inanimate" targets?

Nice ?? Veeeeery very nice -
I seem to recall that any increase over a fixed price term became a breach of contract about a year ago - if they fail to drop the price back I believe you can terminate your contract without paying any penalties.

It's a date timmytree - few glasses of champers and a round of cucumber sandwiches sounds heavenly - I will wear my rose tints and we can talk about springer's ad infinitum. Love springer's, on a more serious note, but 90% of my Airgun use now is pest control in very exposed public areas where silence is golden and only a gun in which I have 100% faith in will suffice, my S410 gets thrown in the car several times a week, has never been serviced and is filthy but it drops vermin time and time again without fail ( I also have a 10 shot S200) so it's my best buddy, my health also dictates that a heavy gun is no longer an option so guns like the PS are no longer viable. Been in love with many springer's - the HW80, Original 45 and an Annie 335 are guilty of some of my finest memories over 40 years of shooting

Snow good timmytree - your comment about picking up the PS over your PCP has me worried - unless you have a Hatstand your PCP must be poorly. Without wishing to highjack the thread I feel I must question your sanity, Sir, and suggest that you appoint a second that my chap can thrash mercilessly until you see the error of your ways.

I used to wind them up something rotten until, one day, one particularly annoyed chuttia promised to call me several times a day for wasting his time - true to his word our phone stops at least 5 calls EVERY day .....thank God for call guardian.

Buy it...if you can live with the weight ...someone will be along in a minute to totally disagree but spring powered puff guns simply don't get better than this. If PCP's were suddenly banned and I had to buy a springer then there's only 2 that I would consider buying - a .177 and a .22 Prosport.

All I ever use is RWS - subs and HVHP - brilliant rounds in my CZ.

You paid someone to claim back PPI for you? - simplest thing in the world to do yourself and soooo much advice/templates online. Last one we claimed back took ,in total, about 3 hours of work - 2 years later we got £7k back.

An 1889 Lincoln Jeffries 12g Damascus barrelled SxS - the "lightweight" - handles like a dream and feels like a 20 in the hands.......love at first sight and only the Grim Reaper will ever get it off me

Without wishing to stray off topic I must confess to finding Mr Hadoke nothing but a pure pleasure to speak to on any matter relating to older Guns - he has given me plenty of advice and never even hinted at the fact that he sells the type of Guns that I find most desirable - as for pushing his books - why not? they are an absolute must for historic Gun fans and written brilliantly.

It's quite common to find firing pins without return springs.
-
The British public have been lied to as much as any nation in history, nothing new here. Invasion by Germany? Not a chance and Churchill knew it - but that did not stop the Government from persuading the general public that it was imminent - people fight hardest when they believe that their back is against the wall.
-
2 grooves - just as I mentioned, thick grease on the firing pins will stop your pins rubbing on the extractor - when you open the gun the spent catridge will force the pins backwards - thick grease holds them there thus preventing them protruding thru the breach face as you close the gun.
-
Harsh but true wymberley - unless of course you are suggesting that putting the hammers at half cock will prevent them catching on the extractor - if they are dry and loose they can easily fall forwards and get trapped underneath as you close the gun....if you look underneath the extractors on these older guns you should see 2 areas that are ground back to help push the pins backwards as the gun is closed (sometimes the whole lower edge is radiused) but if the pins are way oversize they will still catch and could be broken quite easily...now there's a headache to be avoided.
-
Presuming this gun is new to you then the pins are simply too long - bit of amateur Gunsmithing is most likely the cause of your woes. As these small items are so important to the correct use of the gun then it might pay you to get a reputable Gunsmith to alter the pins - if they are spring loaded then that will help but if not then I believe this needs to be done with some care as the pins can protrude from the breach face as the barrels are closed and catch on the underside of the extractor - a touch of heavy grease will help prevent this once the pins are correctly fitted as it helps them to "stick" back after opening the gun.
