  1. Any agricultural tenancy or lease/license worth its salt will cover such reserved matters. I would suggest the OP reads the detail in his agreement and addresses any queries he has with the solicitor or land agent who drew it up. However, if pigeons are not contractually mentioned, the tenant cannot override the owner wishes, although he may be able to claim damages as one would do with pheasant damage. Of course it would be a strange owner who forbade a farmer from protecting his crops by shooting, but and a big but, it is not unfair to stipulate that such shooting should not be done by anyone other than the farmer or members of his household.
  2. Henry didn't say or suggest that rape and murder would be tolerated. I for one wholeheartedly agree with Henry's comment. Ridiculous it is not.
  3. There really are some self righteous, unhelpful posts on this forum sometimes. The only one I know of is The Duke of York's Royal Military School https://www.doyrms.com/. .................But there are boarding fees.
  4. You need to be extremely proactive with this situation. As has been suggested, get your firearms into RFD storage now and as Brno22fr has said make it clear to the lad and everyone else involved that he is not to come to your home or associate with our son in any way whatsoever. If he comes round, call the police immediately and have him removed from your property. You may wish to consider obtaining a court injunction against him. Give https://www.brabners.com/services/regulatory/firearms-law a call.
  5. I think that in these extraordinary times, when essential services and many businesses have all but been shut down, to constantly witter on about having to wait to take up a hobby is a little rich.
  6. That caught me out and wasted 3 minutes of my life !!
  7. Indeed it does. .22 rf in tiny flat garden = disaster. The only safe backstop in a small garden is firing down into the ground and as there is no upstairs window to shoot from that's out. As for making a plinking range, well if it was my neighbor I'd soon be complaining to the police.
  8. Remember when Exchange & Mart had a huge section for shotguns, some wonderful bargains - all available by post.
  9. The partner applies to the police for a section 7 permit enabling them to hold them legally and then transfers them to your certificate when you have it back..........simple.
  10. I use one, my wife bought for me 53 years ago. It's been used every day and still looks, writes and feels a dream. Worth every penny.

    RATS IN LOFT

Highly probable, try a down pipe leaf guard for about £4.
  12. Just my 2 pennies worth. I really do believe the time has come reduce and phase out lead shot used in game shooting. I'm not personally concerned about eating a pheasant with a few lead shot in it, but what I do find concerning, is what must be the vast amounts of lead shot that contaminates the ground in and around gun pegs. On whichever side of the argument one stands, this amount of lead, year on year, being spread on the ground just can't be defended. For the serious game shot, the increased cost of lead substitute cartridges or a new gun is insignificant when compared to the cost of a seasons shooting. We bleat on about how much benefit game shooting brings to the environment, yet continue to argue that dumping lorry loads of lead in the countryside is justified. I for one am pleased that the likes of the CA and BASC are driving this agenda forward.
  13. All the police require is the doctor fills in a simple tick box pro-forma request stating yes or no to the following questions about the applicant • Acute Stress Reaction or an acute reaction to the stress caused by a trauma. • Suicidal thoughts or self-harm. • Depression or anxiety. • Dementia. • Mania, bipolar disorder or a psychotic illness, or a personality disorder. • A neurological condition: for example, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s or Huntington’s diseases, or epilepsy. • Alcohol or drug abuse. • Diagnosed with a terminal illness in the last 2 years. • Any other mental or physical condition which you think may be relevant.
  14. You are far better to write a new will. The cost won't be much more and it will save hassle should the codicil be misplaced or become separated from the will.
  15. When I do mine, I heat the coat up on top of the Aga then apply the wax, then go over it with a hair dryer. Comes up a treat.
  16. A truly magical coat, mine could stand up on its own with no human help whatsoever !
  17. Not had repairs done for some years, but their website states Re wax only £35. Repairs when having the £35 re wax done are. Replace zip £29, new pocket £35, bind hem £12, new collar £25 etc. I sent my very old Solway Zipper that was an absolute disgrace many years ago and they took the job on, so based on that they will repair anything ! https://www.barbour.com/uk/repairs-service-quote
  18. She's only asking the equivalent price of good farmland.................jump at it.
  19. Pleased to hear that. Good to have you back.
  20. Just read my profile..................heavens above, I joined in 2006. No wonder I feel old!

    Fair Play

Most regrettably this type of trendy woke nonsense is becoming more prevalent, but then, what else does one expect from Exeter's labor council and its horrid MP. It's really time these people were put back in their box. I also note that the council leader is highly vociferous supportive of BLM, so expect the council to turn its attention to every other aspect of colonial history Exeter has. If they get away with this, it won't be long before they question the actions and motives of those fighting at Rokes Drift.
  22. Firstly, pigs will route up any growing plant or tree. Nuts cross pollinate easily. Just make sure you have similar varieties, so that they come into flower at the same time. The bushes have both male and female flowers but require another bush to pollinate. To stand any chance of fruiting they need light pruning every winter. With luck you'll get a small bucket of nuts per bush, so not a lot of feed produced for pigs, which is why the old nut growers grazed sheep in their nut orchards. The only way to make it work would be to graze the pigs in the orchard for a couple of weeks in September to clear the nuts up without damaging the orchard.
  23. And don't you ever sell it or you'll have me to answer to. I stupidly parted with my Charles Lancaster in 1972 to get one of the much hyped, hit anything you aimed at, highly fashionable over and under thingies.............regretted it every day since !. Stupid youthful folly in following fashion and believing all that is written. Thank the lord I didn't part with my W&S 700.
  24. You are correct. See section 2 of the Game Act. 2 What shall be deemed Game. The word “game” shall for all the purposes of this Act be deemed to include hares, pheasants, partridges, grouse, heath or moor game, black game
