  1. More shotguns and pigeons , less airguns and rabbits.
  2. I was in Seaham , a couple of days ago delivering a cooker to a fast food joint. While i sat waiting i was watching the Starlings raid the bins at the back of the other food emporiums . Starlings in December.? Also on the Manchester Ship Canal , just near Morrisons , Warrington , a Moorhen/Coot , with four chicks swimming behind her. Daffs , and wild garlic coming through in the woods? FUBAR.
  3. Sort of makes those aches and pains , that sometimes stop us going out ,seem pathetic. Top Guy , a true exponent of the 'right stuff'!
  4. As above , just change to .22rf 'shorts' for lower power 'closer' work.
  5. ACF 52 , spray some onto a cloth and apply . Awesome stuff.
  6. I wont be doing much as the rabbits on my perms seem to have gone on holiday somewhere. I will stake out the bird feeders down the woods for squizzers , and maggies , as the farmer wants them gone .
  7. Cheshire , wont open until after the first full term. I've tried everything , permission visits , letters from landowners etc, They wont even open my FAC Air slot, and asked that i kept receipts for 'pellet' purchases , as it may help my request. At that point I gave up.
  8. As Evo said HW80 is bullet proof, but heavy if you are of 'slighter build', HW 95K is all you will need. Just as well made but lighter to cart around.
  9. Ditto to the above, fabulous bargain for the price.
  10. I was working in the Engineering Industry in the 70's , and when these plants like Longbridge, and Speke, closed down , the company I worked for went to the Machinery auction to purchase machines to re furb and sell on. We were stunned !!!! We came away empty handed , as most of the machinery was both ancient and obsolete. Keep up with the Japanese , I dont think so . Yes the workers didn't help themselves , but with overproduction and poor sales, sometimes the management were quite happy and agreeable to the unions taking the plant's workers out. We are now open and affected by free market forces, some good (petrol 99p per liter ,Florida 96p per gallon). Some bad (average house price £300,000). But, there is no going back.
  11. Well ,we all wanted these 'basic utility' companies in ;private hands now , didnt we? Transport, Energy, Housing, etc Be careful what you wish for ! Your children might just get it.
  12. If the Chinese make their military equipment , like all the rest of the junk they ship out ,They wont get far.
  13. What time is Atherton open from and to on Wednesdays??
  14. Ask Tench if he could change the block for a Multi ? While retaining the reg. You never know , he's a clever chap .
  15. Only if its not wearing breathing apparatus.
  16. HW45, .22 Falcon pellet , never had anything survive the first shot.
  17. Good advice , above , stalking after rabbits is never usually easy , unless they have been used to humans 'being about' and causing them no harm. Remember ,You are stalking and animal with , poorish vision, Big directional Ears, and an acute sense of smell, and vibration detection. You have to negate those senses as best you can. Good Luck.
  18. Go too a scrap yard , and cut out some old seat belts . Costs a quid , and you can slice it to the required width.
  19. Feel for you . We had to have our beloved 15 yr old Cocker Jo , put to sleep a week ago. Its a piece of your heart they take with them . If I ever meet god , I'm going to gripe to him about the life span of dogs.
  20. Hi , the Jandoa Chase Wind Crossbows are chinese copies of Excaliber, 90 /150/ lb draw weight, they come in cheap at around 130 quid . Armex do a range of crossbows , like the Jaguar , which come in 90 150 and 175lb draw weight , which are cheaper still , because they only have a one piece prod ,which is angled so the string drags on the rail, so not as efficient as a two piece prod where the bolt shoots between the limbs , and the string is actually not in contact with the rail. You can buy the cheaper ones from places like Merlin Archery in a kit , which comes with sights and bolts. The cheap red aluminium bolts they send are made of chewing gum type aluminium and bend for fun, so its best to buy some proper bolts from somewhere like Merlin, or The Archery Company , or Bowsports . Bowsports owners have been both World , and British champions with both types of Crossbow (Target and Hunting) so know what they are on about. You need a cocking aid (string one will do) to get the thing as accurate as possible, by drawing the string evenly applying even load to both Limbs , or sides if a one piece prod. You can of course do it by hand , but a rope cocking aid will decrease the drawing effort by 50%.It will also aid 'decocking' and string removal , renewal. My Excalibur Vixen 2 150lb draw, shoots 390 grain bolts at 300ft/per second. (approx 80ft/lbs) , and using the Hawke XB 30 dial a speed scope. i can put bolt on bolt up to and at 60 yards. So if you purchase one for fun be carefull , the Jandoa orJaguar, 150 puts out 270 ft/per sec, with shorter 320 grain bolts which is still 50 ft/lbs , and would ruin your, or anyone's day if you were to be hit by the bolt. If you want to use one in a mock hunting scenario, only the National Field Archery Society has a Crossbow class, Its a safe cheap place to use them, properly. NFAS.NET pm me if you want any help. 21. Looks like a shotgun moley ,and good results. But S410F Carbine , beats it in every department for me. couldn't part with mine.
  22. As far as I was informed , HC 80's are imported as full power then 'doctored' down to 11ft/lbs by cutting the spring 'in house', using a knackered angle grinder disc, or blunt hacksaw blade,
  23. Sub 12ft/lbs HW95K .22 AAS410f.177 FAC, HW80K .22 Daystate Airwolf .22 (but could never justify the expense)
