  1. Not sure as there is still a need for the old battery technology lamps. When you can get an almost weight free lithium lamp that will run for hours for £50. Might be good for a magnet depending on AH.
  2. A decent bag non the less. Its a bit spooky shooting them when they come from anywhere out of the fog. Gun sounds a bit strange too as the sound bounces back. Well done.
  3. Just upload to photo bucket. Click the link alongside the picture and post it in the text. New gun deserves a selfie
  4. Cracking pictures from some great outings. Thanks for making the effort of posting.
  5. Take a kayak and paddle the river if the dams releasing. Play in the falls of Laura at Connel with a rib. Order a keg of beer in at the tight lines pub and have a really........... good night out Walk to Kilchurn and climb in to get over the hangover. What a great part of the world.
  6. The world is smaller each day. We have more in common than things that divide us. Co-operation will be the route to success in an ever competitive world. If we cannot find a way to do it we will see a erosion of living standards as we start to face real labour competition with the rising third world nations. One way or another we will need a European collaboration.
  7. I have had four pairs of wellies (two were Muck boots) in three years. I love them but they don't last. I probably need to get some boots but like Kyska can't stand the thought of having to do them up each time i am in or out. Or trying to get them off before getting back into the truck when they are covered in clay. Out there some where must be a pair of well made boots that don't have the marketing price tag of Meindl. As for zip off lace up boots they are never going to work.
  8. Read the tests then buy a Meopta.
  9. The more successful a place the greater the number left behind.

    Wellies

Muck boots i have had two pairs they have lasted just a year. This year had two pairs of Grub's and they are both scrap after 11 months. They are all pretty comfy and accommodating but if you really use them I doubt they will last,
  11. Great pictures. I love Brum and even had one of the Discs off the Debenhams store when i lived in Sutton. There are some great stories of funding and developing the City. Do you remember the bridge story between the Hyatt and the ICC where it was made too short for the gap I remember the site of the ICC being sold to a developer for a huge price, bought back for a song when the developer went bust.
  12. Not knocking the price at all Rob they sound great value. Merely amused at the apparently unusual pricing structure. If the cost for a dozen is £24 then one for £2 is cheap. Those that buy less appear to be subsidised by those that buy more?
  13. I have just watched her husband talk about the families future. Very touching and dignified. Not sure I could hold such composure.
  14. I think you are right. Even in the good times we seem unable to live within our means.
  15. Truth is we are borrowing more today to fund our life style. We will all be paying back for a long time to come. Shame when the government was just starting to get to grips with the debt. Good to see that some of the brexiteers reaping what they have sown.
  16. Mine never last long enough to preserve Need some more now after wet feet today. That's two pairs this year.
  17. That is lovely. 1st dibs when you sell it
  18. Anyone have a simple recipe for Jerky?
  19. Whatever size stove you go for get a stove that allows for a direct air supply feed for it. You will massively increase the useable heat. When a log burner runs the gas coming out the flue is enormous. Much of that gas will be drawn as air from the room and that will be replaced by cold air from out side. The bigger and hotter the fire the more cold air will be drawn in. A direct air supply will negate this. Its a no brainer. More heat less wood.
  20. My lounge is 550 sqft with a max height of 15 ft well insulated and i run a 5kw stove which does this and the rest of the house too. the performance figures of the stove are misleading (IMO) as they refer to its burning performance not use able heat. I have the fresh air supply flued direct to the fire (closed system) so I don't have cold air entering the house to feed the fire. Its efficiency remains the same at 81% but provides much more warmth than otherwise.
  21. Out at 630 cold and wet to arrive at my new Perm at about 730 with trusty guide Bumpy22 off here. As we are getting out of the truck I have to take a moment to admire some unusual vegetation when we are surprised (well i was) by a couple of deer trotting behind the truck along the track. All a bit rushed so we let them be. Then Bumpy spots a Munty just across the first field. All excited now and raring to go Up into the first field less than 100m from the truck there is a Doe standing in a hollow in the field. Head held high she is scenting the wind, we are the wrong side and stand to admire whilst she decides which way she wants to go. We leave her there and sett off through a small copse to the next field. A small group of four are standing on the other side upwind . We stalk closer using a dip in the hill as cover and get to 120m or so but we are a little high and the back stop is not so strong. We sit and observe for maybe 30 mins. I struggle to keep my fingers warm I have to carry the rifle and the sticks today We work out that there is a mature Doe amongst the Bucks. We need to improve the back stop and reduce the range. Back we track staying low dropping behind the ridge down the field and back towards a small copse (where I had set of a cam a few days before) between us and the target. Aware that I may be on camera i tidy my jacket a little and smile. Now we are 80m away laying prone, the bucks are out but the Doe is staying in cover. We wait and the time passes. Its very cold, very wet but I am too focused for cold hands or to notice the discomfort. Eventually after maybe 30 mins she shows herself enough for a shot. Bumpy checks i am happy to take it and I squeeze the trigger. Noise and recoil result in me missing the point of impact. I lift my head from the stock and she is off in an arc behind the hedge . We wait and wait, I am sure the shot was good. After what feels like a lifetime we go to see where she stood looking for evidence but there is no trail. I thought the shot was good. Bumpy goes off to look over the field and I am left to search the grass but nothing, maybe i missed Down the field I go and I am asked to check the field edge. Nothing. 'Better to have missed cleanly than to have a runner' I say but feel dismayed that I could miss from so close. Then I see the Doe lying in the ditch Bumpy had found it 10 mins earlier Now the hard work begins. Amazing what you can do with a tikka . What better way to spend a Sunday morning. So much to learn. A big thank you Edd.
  22. Thats a half decent bag there and..... you did not get soaked either. That has to be a god day out.
