Just taken out a lease on a farm for stalking. Want to try to manage it properly so first task is to try and work out the numbers on the land and come up with a cull plan. Bagged half a sack of apples and off in the morning with the trail cam to set up in a likely place and start to find out whats about. I have seen 14 in an evening when after foxes and saw 5 when walking round after pheasant. Also know there are Boar in the area so who knows. Any ideas on how to estimate the numbers would be appreciated.

We had four off a small piece of land (not even a farm) maybe 10 acres the other week. Farmer has baited it and seen another four there this week. Off out on Wednesday night to see if we can bag some more. It looks like the smallest scruffiest bits of land see the most action?

Its tough no doubt about it. Parents night at school gets even harder. I looked at it this way. I wanted my kids to be happy with mum and her relationship to be happy. I wanted the step dad to care about my kids. Kids are not here for our pleasure, rather we are here for them. Life is hard enough for them and my job was to be there for them when they needed me. I have a shooter king coat and that has a demo of it pulled through a hedge by a truck. It's worked so far against gorse and the heaviest rain but I have only had it a year.

How do you know it's been cleared? It may be the case it has been used for this caliber before, but on an open ticket. I have a farm that was not cleared and had it cleared whilst I had a .22. I was told by the FEO that they clear to the max safe calibre so as not to have to go back out. Now I have a variation for .243 so just to be safe I check with FEO if it's cleared. They tell me it was only cleared for 220 (?) so need to do it again. This land is large, very hilly remote with minimal roads and foot paths. It would be safe to launch an RPG let alone a .243.

Out last night with Bumpy22 on some of his perms. Looked at a few places saw some but couldn't get a shot. Then at another likely location at the bottom of a large hill calling with the fox pro. About to give up after swapping to a vixen mating call. Final flash of the lamp and two were spotted at about 350 and 300 yards. One came in to abut 150 but did not appreciate the lamp and was off back up the hill. The other one was sat at 200 yards doing not a lot. Edd took the shot and it was down complete with a mouthful of berries. Then off to the last farm of the night and spotted one at 150yds but not in a good location. Left the fox pro on the truck and set off around the field. First obstacle was a new gate and we both did our best elephant like crossings We would have been quieter opening the gate. NV revealed the fox still in place, now at 80yds. Closer and closer 10yds at a time still there until we were at about 35yds in a much better shooting position and down he went. A very large dog.

Is their a time limit as to how early you can submit your renewal, such as waiting for notification?

Last year we moved our club (30+members) from CA to BASC. Principally for proper shooting insurance rather than insurance of last resort. We also felt that BASC was focused on shooting rather than everything country sporting.

If you cannot afford to fully patent then its likely that you will not be able to defend the patent if you get it.

Just done mine for a variation and answered yes (46 in a 40 ) and its gone through.

I eat a few feed a few to the dog. If anyone wants some after that happy to tell them which hedge they are in.
