  1. Not disputing that Oz is like NZ and well out the way, highlighting that restrictions can work, I also realise we have a lot more people coming and going and that should have been stopped, how much of the travel is really necessary? When we are locked down seeing flights coming and going then being told 'there's a new strain' certainly doesn't sit well.
  2. Watching the itv news on plus one this morning and they were interviewing an Australian reporter? Returning home, since last April everyone entering Australia has had to isolate, escorted from the airport to a designated hotel, limited flights and hotels. With many not able to afford to get home. She said it was costing her around £7K but also that Australia has only had around 29K cases in total, not per day.
  3. They certainly are clever bits of kit, I'm going getting mine later and really hoping for a shot of the owl that's about, and really really hoping its nailed a squirrel on the feeder.
  4. Is it far from a road? Or possible someone else has shot it on the boundary? I found a 22 pellet in one at a place I've only ever shot 177
  5. That's what they've been doing on the isle of Man with great success, but its obviously a very small place when compared with pretty much everywhere else so easy to manage.
  6. It's not forgotten about though is it, the gov/nhs inoculate millions every year.
  7. I don't think anyone would just forget about something that can kill you, you don't catch cancer or heart disease from being coughed on by a stranger. That's probably the attitude the Brazilian president took, just forget about it.
  8. That would be political suicide, they already have more morgues, buildings were earmarked for this. If they started sending patients to the minimally staffed and equipped Nightingale hospitals saying there is low chance of recovery while there is room in the hospitals how is that going to go down? The Nightingales were for if things went Pete tongue big time, to stop patients being in corridors. I'd guess they were only built as a last ditch going off the predictions that the deaths would be much higher in number, but there's no one to staff them adequately, Army etc will be basic care only.
  9. You could still eat out until January in some places couldn't you? The Christmas relaxation of restrictions was always going to have an effect, do you really think that many people didn't mix? We did, the mother in law came for the day, she's been in our bubble, and I know others did the same seeing family for the day and enjoying it. Then you will have people who simply ignored the lockdown restrictions, there has to be a reason why the same areas still have high rates, it can't be because they are all sat at home sticking to the rules.
  10. It creates thought though, some would have us believe that leaving the EU has doomed us, but just looking at the roll out of the vaccine in the EU it's a mess, while things are going smoother here.

Then it isn't set up right, simple as that, where abouts are you? Few guys around the country who could have it purring.
  12. You should put that in it's own post John, Germans view on Boris, according to many on here he's ruined everything.
  13. This latest Lockdown was always going to happen after xmas, everyone surely new that? I'm still expecting things to go back to the tiers once the elderly and vulnerable have been vaccinated. People not getting treatment for the likes of cancer has to be an issue, hopefully if the nhs staff who look after the patients and do the treatments have had the vaccine then this can start again and soon.
  14. Typical, found one in 177 https://www.pickeringguns.co.uk/shop/air-rifles/pcp-air-rifles/fx-cyclone-177/ But they have another gun with synthetic stock, listed as Webley/ FX in 22. https://sunderlandairguns.com/fx-cyclone/ And brand new ££££

You asked pretty much the same question back in November? Don't think the gun is empty after say the 50th shot, it goes off the reg, but how often will you shoot 50 shots hunting?
  16. That's good news fella, if she's bothered about having clean stuff.
  17. We've just had a two hour walk, deliberately along the river, near the sewage plant there are a couple of tight bends that are normally blocked with collapsed Willow trees, happily found that most of them have been cleared at some point which obviously helped with the flow of water. We went back over the river at one point, the little bridge was probably ten foot above the water but had loads of debris stuck in it. They slow the water down with their dams, but I saw a post last week saying how the beavers are damaging mature trees.
  18. @Longbower knows a chap in Cheshire
  19. The flood plains always look nice though, until they flood!! Croston near us has flooded badly a few times, our little river feeds into the the Yarrow which goes through Croston along with the Douglas which goes into the Ribble, so there's a lot of water going that way, there has only been work done at Croston because of the constant floods but we will hopefully benefit from it. Building on the flood plains makes little sense but work definitely needs on lots of rivers, all well and good them being beautiful and great for nature but no good if the villages flood every year.
  20. The EU is in a mess and Boris did something right?? That can't be right surely 😅😅
  21. I was wondering about this, living by a river you are watching the levels of your river and those it feeds during periods like this last week, there are an awful lot of rivers and streams around the country that badly need work doing on them to improve the flow.
  22. Shouldn't matter and that's the problem, too many areas right across the country where this is going on across all religions/races / cultures. It shouldn't have been difficult for the police to stop everyone coming out and take details then issue fines. It's not like it was a few people out for a walk in a park?
  23. I'm wondering how long it will take to get all or most of the over 60s the vaccine, if that can be done by spring then I'm expecting a roll out of the dreaded tier system again. Hopefully if those most at risk are protected then the shops, pubs restaurants and work places can re-open. Schools might not be back till after Easter which seems like a long time.
  24. I doubt they have the staff to run them, I thought the army/forces would be needed to run them, it's got to be a last chance saloon. I think sport is only carrying on because so many watch it (tryingtokeepthe masses happy), but I see no point in teams travelling abroad. Your right about them then returning home to their families but I'd hope the whole squads/ backroom staff are being tested a few times a week. You would think the likes of Formula one would be postponed, there must be a lot of people per team that travel, all over the world. They are yes, but the coaches, managers and backroom staff aren't. There was a skier on a few weeks ago Sunday evening, the guy works as a career as well and said the virus absolutely floored him.
